Is this normal?
Hey, new to the diesel here, and I was wondering if it's normal to hear what sounds like engine decompression on shut down. I turn the ignition off and sometimes I hear an air release from under the hood. Kinda sounds like it comes from the intake. A big PFFFFFTT once or twice as the engine stops. Sure do like the new truck!! Thanks

This may be something to think about too. It's the noise I am hearing on mine and I woud describe the noise pretty similar to what you did.

Yeah, after reading that post that would explain the sound but I didn't really think it sounded like a "squeak". The funny thing is that now when I want to hear it and compare to what I read... it wont do it! Been raining here though so maybe it has to be dry to have it happen, it falls in line with what I read. Thanks for the help though!
Ring still installed. Only change to the truck is nerf bars. I was driving around today with A/C on and it wasn't making the sound again...funny how things disappear when you are looking for them.

Yep, sounds like it's the belt for the A/C. Heard it yesterday when I stopped at a store. Next stop I made I turned the A/C off before shutting down and no sound. Now that I heard it again it does sound like a belt screeching and not a air let off or something, I kinda like it. My wife asked if it was normal, guess it is.
BTW--I Liked my 2005 Ram 1500 with the HEMI, but now I'm like "F--- That" I now fall into the category of "why would anyone not want a diesel, let alone tow with anything else"
That thing got a HEMI??? Oh, too bad.
