Is it rocker lash or just "Diesel" noise?

It sure would be a good idea to check them if you are concerned.

explain rocker lash.
perty much. when I let off the accelerator pedal, you hear the chatter from the engine. I can rev it up a bit, let off and it sings it chattery song.

by your mileage, i would definatly check your valve lash. I believe it is .010 intake and .020 exhaust. When checking it check for the rockers to be pitted or the valve bridges. If they have been running loose there is a good chance a few will need replaced.

well I dropped the $100 to have the valves adjusted.

watched an learned too!

no need for the tdc pin at all or any special tools!!

a ratchet on the alt pulley and turn the engine BACKWARDS slowly.....watching the valves open and close. then start at cyl's 1 and 2 and work your way around.

the rockers still chatter, but in unisen now!

idles better and accelerates smoother......

just gotta get the kickdown adjusted on the trans....[:@]
