Jim, I think there is a vacuum pump attached to the power steering pump that works the master cylinder. it wasnt untill the 3rd gens that the power steering pump also powers the brakes.
You sure on that? I think hydroboost started in 1997. I could be wrong.
to be frank I'm unsure just like you.

I don't know where to ask...lol. I know a 95' and a 96' do not have it in the manuals. It does appear in the 97's though.

Maybe one of the Dodge certified guys knows.

My coworkers 97 has a hydro boost unit in it

Default my stering is gone too!

Hey guys looking for some help with my blown steering as well. Sounds just like what happen to Yamaharider. At a stop sign the steering started making a wicked noise and became hard to steer. By the time I limbed home the brake pedal was solid stiff. The fluid was gone from the reservoir. Evidence of fluid leaking was found on the bottom of the shaft/nut/steering arm of the pump and also the side of the lower block aft of steering pump.
