OK so i was pulling into a parking lot today and i went to turn and their was no power steering so i was like what the heck so i park and get out and look under the truck and power steering fluid is going every where. So i pop the hood and and the pump is leaking fluid so what should i do? Is their an after market pump or should go factory. And also what would cause the pump to go?

Jim, I think there is a vacuum pump attached to the power steering pump that works the master cylinder. it wasnt untill the 3rd gens that the power steering pump also powers the brakes.

Your system has 4 lines A hp line from the ps pump to the hydroboost unit (attached to the rear of the master cylinder). The another hp line runs from the hydroboost, down to your steer gear (bolted to the inside of theframe onthe drivers side). Both the hydroboost unit, and the steer gear have low pressure return lines. One line from each component, and both returns line connect neear each other on the ps pump reservoir.
I'm no expert but I have never seen a PS pump blow fluid out through the front of the shaft. My guess is a broken line. Fill the reservoir up, start the truck, and have a towel handy....lol. You will see where it'c coming from.
Hope this helps.
Good luck with your ride.

You sure on that? I think hydroboost started in 1997. I could be wrong.
