straight pipe= rice burner
i just installed a 4" borla straight pipe with a straight thru muffler yesterday. i took the cat off so its just the pipe and the straight thru muffler now. its lost its sound of the diesel except for idle and it not sounds like a loud rice burner. driving slow or fast i cant escape that annoyying sound. is this drone im hearing or is it somthing else? i called the place i had put them on and they do not know how to fix it. im thinking about taking the muffler off and replacing it with straight pipe but im worried that it might make the sound im trying to get rid of sound louder. so should i try that, buy a muffler from a diff company, put a baffle somewhere im the pipe, or put the cat back on?
i got a 05 5.9 ctd 2500, 4x4 long box 4 door.
any replies would be great!

i dont know why mine sounds like that, not one person ive shown it to said it sounded good. everyone asks me when will it be fixed... its a stainless steel pipe, could that have anything to do with it? and also im thinking its possibly the muffler since everyone says straight pipe sounds so good, the only thing i have diffrent from someone with just straight pipes is my borla straight thru muffler. i am going to try to take that out once i find a way to buy a 4" section of pipe and see how that works, if not it sounds like a pretty costly mistake but im going to have to maybe try dumping more money in it buying that aero pipe mayfair talks about... its hard to beleive not one person can relate to this?!?!

Straight pipe is not always the cheapest, depending where you go you could spend around $20/ft. for a piece of 4in pipe, and on our trucks the muffler is around 3 ft long. I went to a truck stop and bought a scrap piece of flex pipe. The guy gave me a 4 ft drop for $12.
