Default Drivetrain shaking

Ok, this one is on a '96 3/4 ton extended cab CTD. We've been having problems with the drivetrain shaking like a fool, especially when towing a gooseneck trailer. I just finished replacing two if the three u joints ( I ran out of O2 on the torch) and things got better. But later today it started happening again. I intend to change the last u joint, but was wondering if anyone had anything like this happen before. About the only other thing I can think of is the carrier bearing in the drive line itself. Thanks.

I had the carrier bearing go out on my '98. It was vibrating extremely bad and was very noticeable what the failure was, the rubber around the bearing came apart. Make sure your U joints are in-line, if not, it will vibrate.....

That's what we were thinking. I just wanted to check to see if anyone else ever had any similar trouble before I started tearing into the entire drivetrain from the tranny back. Guess I'll change the carrier bearing when I change the last u joint. Thanks for the input.

When you do the carrier bearing, make sure you put the yoke back on in time with the d line.

Does anyone know of a part supplier that carriers the bearing kits for the yoke?? I've been looking and can't find anything that seems right.

Have you checked all the tires. I had a come and go problem in my wifes old Plymouth minivan, when I took it in they put it on the lift and found a big bubble in the tire. Funny thing was you couldn't see it while weight was on it. Just a thought.

Either a driveline shop, or napa should have one. If you got an extra soul laying around you can get one from the dealer

Tires are fine. End just ended up putting new rear tires on to see if that was the problem. And the ones on the front are fine too. Basically its been a slowly developing problem for awhile now.
