Default new duramax over new cummins?????

was talkin to the manager at the diesel shop yesterday and he was sayin with all of the electronics issueson the new ctd's, he would rather purchase a new duramax. mentioned chevy has already worked out those bugs over the last couple years. did mention all of the trucks have way too much wiring. all makes will soon have a major electrical issue eventually.

I havent heard of any electrical issues. . . .

the only thing I fear is the EGR getting clogged.

I'd take electrical issues over the duramax every day of the week. I've driven quite a few of them and aren't impressed by their power, mileage, and a whole host of other things. The cummins engine is tried and true and I can't think of anything better than that.

On the Ford 6.0 you are lucky to get 40K miles from an EGR valve. The EGR cooler is a weak link too. But all three have them now. We'll soon see who has the better mouse trap.

Yea there are about five ppl on this forum i think with 6.7L and they don't seem to have any problems with them so far. If your diesel guy fears electronics more than an all aluminum block diesel that has head warping issues and overheating issues.... well then he really just don't know wtf he's talking about.

The problem with the 6.0 cooler is that it opposing flow. Coolant enters where the gasses exit (coolest) and exits where the gasses enter (hottest) This means that the coolant starts to boil when it gets to the hottest part of the egr cooler. If the coolant flowed with the exhaust, there wouldn't be any problems.
