I already got my rem 700 heavy match barrel with varmint laminate stock in 22-250. I had to adjust the trigger down, it came with a 4.5lb pull, I adjusted it down to about 1.5 lbs. I got a cheapo scope on it, I've been looking at one of these scopes http://www.nightforceoptics.com/?cat...d75b3685a77f4f

Very very good scopes.

Yes, that is a marlin 45-70 gov. One heck of a brush rifle, picked it up for just under $600

Those our some nice scopes.
I'll make do w/ my simmons though.
I've got a Malin 30-30 that's my favorite in my collection.
Do you know anything about Harris bi-pods.
I was looking at one for my Savage.

Got the harris on my marlin 17hmr, savage 22lr, remington 22-250, and my mauser 8mm. Works great on all of them with only one problem on the 22-250, the kick is so hard that the legs try to fold sometimes. I've also got a marlin 30-30 and a win 45lc. The win45lc was a mistake to buy, the action is really bad compared to the marlins.

How hot of load have you put in there. I haven't hand loaded any, just been using 405 grain flat nose from black hills for plinking. I want to try some of the leverlution (sp) rounds to see what they do.

I think that I have been loading some pretty warm ones. 405 Rem at about 1700fps and 420 Cast Performance just below that. I shot a 3/8" group at 100yds a few weeks ago with the 45-70 with the Leupold 2.75x scout scope. That was with the 405 Remington and H335 powder. Talk about a lot of muzzle flash, WOW. Recoil is pretty stout. I think it will be my new prairie dog gun :-)

Should be able to get them when there in the ground with that[8D]. I bought my 22-250 rem 700 for prarie dogs, also the 17hmr for close range. I take the 45-70 hiking because I didn't trust the 30-30 to stop a bear. I really need to get some hand loads through this thing as all the factory load are turned way down for the older guns.

I really need to do some home loading now, these factory rounds i've been using for plinking (405 flat nose) only 1250 fps.
