I buy about 5,000 gals of LSD every week it is still being made.

 

This keeps coming up and I want to know where specifically you see LSD fuel is being sold in the lower 48 at retail outlets for use on the highway. Not fleet fueling centers for big rigs or off road farm use or heating oil outletsbut for your average Joe. If it is LSD it is not intended for general use in our trucks.

 

Can I run either in my 2007 5.9 or is it ULSD only? I am still only on my second tank since purchase and I have filled with ULSD only because thats all I can find anyhow?

 

FYI, As per the EPA web site, LSD can be sold for on road use until 10/2010 but not in the state of CA. Some of the small refineries were given the permission to keep making LSD for what ever reason they gave the EPA for them to say ok you can keep making LSD until 2010.

 

I haven't seen LSD in central Florida, all I seen is the ulsd

 

Tommygunz, I'm under the impression that you can run both. I've filled up 4 times since I've had my truck and all of them have been with LSD, so Ill be screwed if this is not the case. Here's a thread I started a month ago asking the same question because I wasn't sure either :

This is an FYI to everyone who has a 5.9 diesel engine. You can burn either LSD or ULSD in this engine it’s the new 6.7L engine that can only burn ULSD as it has a DPF, EGR and other smog crap. The 2007 trucks that have a 5.9L are early model 2007’s with a 2006 engine as any truck made starting January 1, 2007 had to have the new 6.7L engine put in it. I wish they would call it a 2007.5 to note the change just like they did for the 2004.5.

No LSD is the disel that has been used up until i think the last year or so where the ulra low sulfur diesel has come out. The problem is that the 6.7L is designed to run on ULSD and ULSD only not like the 5.9 which can run on both and be fine.
