I think we need some more input from stock tranny users... the TC lockup is controlled by the tranny controller, mine locks @ 28 mph in 2nd gear. It could be that there is a sensor in the VB telling the controller that it is ready to lock it but I"m not 100% sure.

anyone with a stock tranny want to help? simple test, put it in 2nd and drive up to 20 then speed up to 30. you should see the TC lock. then once it's locked and your doing 30, let off the pedal and let it coast, you should see it unlock @ 25... Mine is a 2005 and this is how mine works.

47REor 48RE TCC is controlled by the PCM or ECM., suttle differences are the result of different operating software. You guys dont need to spend loads of money for a good tranny or a TC. The TC is the weak point and you can get a custom TC built cheapwith Chris Seahorn at Circle D Specialities in Houston TX. The price includes a billet front cover, billet lock up piston, HD lock up clutch single disc, furnace braised turbine, and low stall stator. This is the same TC being marketed and sold foralot more by companieslike ATS. As for the trans, use a Sonnax sure cure kit, Kevlar band and clutches and that's about it.
