Default 2 stroke test

today i decieded to jump on the two stroke ban wagon. after reading the articles on this site i figured i would try it ( replaceing one pump was enough for me) I have a 02 with 4.10 gears, with 111,000 miles 4 inch stainless exhuast turbo back and a K&N intake . It averages 14.7 mpg consistantly by calculator . I mixed the two stroke about 200:1 wich comes out to 5000 parts per million of lubricant compared to 500 ppm at the pump. ill post results and opinion when tanks empty.

Yes, please do let us know how you make out. I'm curious if the 1oz of 2 stroke per gallon is too much which is what I'm adding right now. My mileage hasn't gotten any worse, but it hasn't gotten any better either. I think my next tank of fuel I'm going to add a little PS to the mix again to see what happens.

speaking of ....

HEY DREW .... how are you making out with your new blend?

All of you with 1st and 2nd gen trucks should do ok with 2 cycle oil in your fuel. Its the 3rd gen like me who have 3 injections events who don't get much from it except extra lube. I used 1 oz per gallon with PS last winter and lost up to 2.5 mpg so I now know to not use any 2 cycle oil once the temps start to stay below 45 degrees. Has anyone tried a 50/50 mix of PS and 2 cycle oil yet or a 3 way mix of 1oz mix of each PS, 2 cycle and MMO? I was going to try it but went to using Lucas instead.

I used two stroke the past couple tanks and have not noticed any better mileage, I have actually noticed my truck getting louder however I am in a different climate. (mountains in Oregon as oppose to desert of Phoenix Az.) but I think I am going to get back to drews brew, or lucas once back to my garage on Saturday.

That's kinda what I was thinking about trying. Maybe use 1/2oz per gallon of 2 stroke instead of the 1oz mix. I'm sure you saw me question MM73 about the reason he picked 1oz and I'm sure it's fine, but I just feel queezy adding that much for some reason. I dunno. I know that every time I start my truck I see a black puff out of the tailpipe. Now I don't remember ( or didn't take notice ) to see if it came after the addition of the FASS, or if it's a result of adding the 2 stroke, but I"M thinking it can't be good. I know you guy's are cool with the black cloud, but I can't help but think that soot is also coating everything inside of the exhaust / engine. I dunno ... I'm weird.

I know MM73 is 100% against adding anything other than 2 stroke and he's got multiple reasons / explanations, about how bad everything else is, however I can't help but think that adding a little PS to the mix won't help keep the injectors clean.

My only fear with addng anything like that is what is it also doing to the stuff that ISN'T metal? I know what it did to the plastic funnel and that made me nervous.

I think it’s only some plastic that PS does not like; being it comes in a plastic jug. But yes I think a small amount of PS like 3-4 oz per tank should not hurt, the same with MMO. Like I’ve said before I like 6oz of Lucas per tank (3oz per 10 gal of diesel) as it ups my mileage some. I also get up to 3.5 mpg extra in my wife’s car with just 4oz of Lucas per tank. My last tank I mixed in some left over 2cycle oil and PS along with some MMO and so far it has not changed my mpg any but I think it does add some extra lube to the fuel. Have you tried to empty most of the additives in your tank and then try using 3-4oz of Lucas per 10 gallons of fuel to see if it upped your mileage any?

No I haven't

So far I've used Drews Brew, nothing at all, and the 2 stroke. I haven't tried Lucas yet, but I'm thinking about it. I'd also like to put some PS on some rubber to see how it effects IT if at all sinc my fuel lines and I'm sure the diaphrams are made of rubber. I'd hate to think that it's eating them away

I am holding off on any additives till i get this ol 93 to the diesel mechanic at the dealer. I want it to run the way it normally does. not sure if the additives screwed it up or I did [:@]

Why not fill up with out any additives and then on the next tank after that go buy a Qt of Lucas its only about $8.00 and add 8oz to every fill up until its gone and see how it does for those 4 tanks of fuel with Lucas in it.

BTW, the reason I say to use 8 oz per tank is to make sure it has a chance to clean up your fuel system real good. I know you have used other stuff but just in case it left any thing behind in your system. If this does not increase your mileage then you either have a very heavy foot, you drive it like a gas engine or you have a engine that will not inprove your mileage no matter what you try.

Also I would think your truck should get as good of fuel mileage as my 3 injecton event engine does when I drive it at 70 MPH.

I am starting to just use lucas myself. I know people have good results across the board with it from gas to diesel. Hell I use it in my lawn mower and pressure washer.
