Default bearing went out in my 6 speed transmission

Hi and thanks for your help. I bought a used 2003 one ton dually, 6 speed, cummmins diesel with 112, 000 miles in great shape-cared for. I drove it 5,000 miles and blew a bearing in the transmission. I am not a happy Dodge owner. Any suggestions to get Dodge to foot the bill for the transmission? Any other suggestions would be appreciated as well.

your pretty much over the 100,000 mile warranty. my guess would be the front bearings ran dry.

it is not going to be cheap since the NV5600 is no longer made and parts are getting harder and harder to come by.

Is Dodge going to offer a manual any more? Or do they already have a new one out?

Yes Dodge still has 6 speed manuals transmissions, IIRC its called the G56.

atlhdc,

Why are you mad at and think Dodge should pay for the trans repair when the warranty was over 12,000 ago. Have you not check the oil in the trans in the past 5K miles? I know when I by used I change out all fluids to make sure it has fresh fluids in it so I don't have to worry that it may have cheap fluids in it or that they are old and wore out.

What year did this new tranny come out in? I have went to 15 dealerships and not a single one has a used Cummins, so I think I am going to be forced to buy an '06 holderover or a new '07

Where are you located?? If you went to 15 dealers and none had a used CTD in stock then that tells you no one wants to get rid of it or when they do get traded they move off the lot fast.

Sorry but there is no chance that DC will entertain your request to replace a trans with 117 K on it.

Sorry about your tranny. But I gotta wonder how the first guy treated the truck. There's alot of people that keep their ride squeaky clean but cant even DRIVE A NAIL much less a 6sp with a high torque Cummins in front of it. Lets face it, if the wrong driver gets a hold of one of these bad boys it would not make off of the lot. My buddy tore his tranny out at 90k in an 04 exactly like mine. I try to take it easy on the clutch dumping and speed shifting on my 6sd for the very same reason, It just turned a 100k the other day and Im hoping for another 100 and I emphasize HOPING. Good Luck with your truck. and remember its not a dragster its a kewl looking towing machine.

Im located in Baudette Minnesota. I can see the canadian border from my porch, its about a quarter mile away[:-] All the dealerships i visited said that if they get a CTD before they can even get it in the shop and service it it is already sold, and most said that they have a waiting list if they ever get any trade ins..
