Pullin the "Gauge Trigger" today ...
Well .... I'm looking at the instructions right now. It's an electric gauge, not a mechanical. You screw some sort of sensor into ( what will hopefully / easily be ) the fuel filter lid. Some sort of plug plugs into that, and then the opposite end of that plug , the square end, plugs into the gauge. Commin out of that square plug that plugs into the gauge are tqo loose wires, One for switched power, and the other says an "engine ground" and it shows it going to the negative terminal.
Is it really nessary to run a ground from the battery, or can I just use a good ground elsewhere?
That sensor says i can't use teflon tape, and yet it calls for some sort of teflon. What should I use?

Im my opinion ground is ground is ground, I would just hook it to the nearest point that Dodge used for a ground and call it a day. I assume you are referring to the sending unit for the teflon tape question? If they say not to use tape the only other thing I know of would be "pipe dope".I wouls call their support line and ask these questions, let us know what they say.
They have liquid teflon thread sealer, believe permatex makes some along with locktite., Mayfair, that housing on the back of the turbo can be drilled and tapped, I just had a really long probe from a semi that I needed to space it out some.

I found the Permatex stuff I think it's #14. I also bought an inline fuse holder because I think the fuel pressure gauge needs to have one ( 3 amp ). I figure I'll use it on all 3 gauges though once I find a switched power line. Sound OK ?

You removed the downpipe? Isn't it welded in place? Gotta pic?

Well, my paint came in yesterday, so all I'm waiting on now is the pillar and the boost bolt. The boost bolt thing got me to thinking ... Where the heck does it go ??
I found this pic, but I can't really make out where on the engine it screws into? Anyone know ??

See the black bolt to the right of the connection. The same bolt is in the location of the circle, you remove that bolt and replace it with the boost bolt, then the line from the gauge screws into the boost bolt.
Make sense?
EDIT: I just re-read your post, I dont' think that is the question you were asking. I think you were looking for where on the motor the pic is taken from. If you follow the intake elbow from the intercooler, the picture is showing where the intake elbow connects to the motor.
Confused yet?

Yeah .... kinda
Looking at the pic, at first I thought it was right in front of the intake, but then I noticed what looks like rubber trim at the bottom of the pic, so then I thought it was BEHIND the intake and the trim was the trim that goes along the top of the firewall.
What's in that hole right now?

Hey Mayfair...
Have you figured out where to get power for your gauges and illumination? I used the cigarette lighter for 12 volt source and then went over to the headlight switch and used the dimer for gauge lights. Using a "test light" and with ignition key in the "on" position determine which is the power lead to the cigarette lighter, this is your 12 volt source. Now for illumination for new gauges, go to yourheadlight switch, again with key in the on position test each line till test light lights up once ya locate it turn key off see iftest light goes out. If light goes out try this to be sure turn keyto on and with tester on same line try diming the dash lights tester should dime as well. As for ground there ought to be a ground or two under the dash to tie onto, if not find some bare metal and drill/tap a hole for a new ground position. Another thing I would sugest using a 5 amp inline fuse going to the 12 volt power for your gauges.
I ordered the Diesel Manor 3 gauge kit with the in-dash mount, sweet set up everything needed was in the kit. Instructions included with the kit were excelent and included colour pics of installation procedures.

How the heck do you guy's reach the headlight switch? My headlight switch is ALLLLL the way up at the top of the dash burried behind one heluva rats nest of wires. Where do you start?
I figured I was just going to tap into the same wire that my CB is tapped into. The CB goes on and off with the power, so I should be OK. I might even hardwire my new Garmin as well since I'll be doing some wireing, that way I can free up the cig plug again.
As far as ground, there's a bare spot on the dash that I was going to use. There's already a ground wire there so I should be fine there too.
Thanks for the boost bolt pic, but again I can't tell where it is. I need a shot of the whole engine so that I can figure it out. The close up's are great for seeing it done, but I still can't figure out where on the enging that bolt is. I know ... I'm an azz.
What's in that hole now, just a plug?
