How bad is your fuel mileage while towing?
I'm starting to think something's wrong with my truck or somethin , unloaded the lie-o-meter, edge on 1 and keeping under 2000 rpm I still only get about 15[:@]The turbo timer works good though
gtxpooch,
That is bad as I got 18 mpg combo driving with my AC on this last tank over the past 2 weeks. I did find out that city driving with AC on all of the time kills my mileage [:@] Oh well at least I stayed cool
Guess I will see how my mileage does when I go camping with my inlaws pop up camp trailer and all of our cargo later today and I will try to post how well it did on Monday. I hope to get between 15-16 mpg ( I used 16 oz of 2 cycle oil along with 10 oz of Lucas) as the trailer is about 2090 lbs and about 2000 lbs in cargo ie camp fire wood, food, passengers and 2 dogs.

I recently came upon this thread on the 3rd Gen forum: https://dodgeforum.com/m_879874/tm.htm
A guy with a 2004 Ram 1500 QC with the 4.7L V-8 gas engine was pulling a 3,600 pound trailer. Going from Dallas to Shreveport he averaged 6.5 MPG! One of the replies to his post was from a guy with the old 5.9L gas engine who said he pulled a "big" trailer and got about 5 MPG.
I started to draft a reply, telling these guys the advantages of a Cummins engine. However, I decided that anything I said would probably not really help. These guys who are all about the gas engines have a different mindset entirely. Maybe someday they'll stumble onto the CTD forum and read about somebody pulling an 8,000 lb trailer while getting 12 (or better) MPG.

Makes me feel better getting 13 - 14 now.
Actually, all I hafta do is think about the crappy mileage I was getting in my old Ford ( 9 mpg ) to make me feel better.
Beautiful truck, but $hitty mileage ...

You guys think that's bad... i have 1100 miles on mine and I get anywhere from 9.5 - 10.9 on the lie o meter! I really hope it gets better... i told my wife that this truck will get better as the miles get higher... if i'm wrong she will be completely unbearable!!!
