Billy what you getting for mileage. Also. Your telling me supply and demand. Yet I'm seeing company's getting richer and richer? It's a monopoly. Well not a monopoly similar. What ever one it is that has just a few company's controlling the market. If they raise prices we all pay anyways. It's been an on going cycle since I think 00' BEFORE 9-11. Went up to 2 bucks everybody cried and complained. Diesel was like 2.30 if i remember right around here. then it dropped to like 180 it was 160 and diesel was 180 before. Everybody's happy. HELLO IT'S STILL UP!!!! Then all of a sudden it jumped then fell back down a little. Jumped fell back down a little. Propanganda aside. it's a money making scheme that we have to pay. Unless we run filtered vegi oil through our trucks. Somebody should buy the pact on that idea before the gas company's do. Don't understand why everyone is buying into Oh yeah we can't do this now. Because our refinery's are closing down or excuses excuses. So what about BEFORE! Hmmm.... Has anybody heard that many of the government offiicials have ties and stocks in the GAS company's! Wow. Gas company's get rich. Government officials get rich. Poor. get poorer. Common man. look at it! it's not a conspiricy. It's plain as day. It's greed. Look for excuses to raise gas prices. Raise them make more money. Why use oil in alaska? Raise gas prices again. Lower a little to give false security to people. Once they get comfortable at lower rate raise it again.

"The Rich get richer.....The poor get poorer" I just vomited in my mouth both happen by choice 99% of the time. This is the mentallity that is ohhhh so destructive to our society. We are no longer a country of equal opportunity we are a country of what's yours is mine. Work hard, educate yourself, and have strong values like personal responsibility and we'd all be much better off. (that is a general statement not directed at you)

We got a little political on the thread which was not my intention I was just trying to discuss fuel prices with fellow Dodge owners. The fact is gas companies are in business to MAKE MONEY so of course gas CEO's are getting rich WHO CARES. The government makes 5 times as much as the individual station owners per gallon did you know that? We are paying .50 per gallon just in taxes here in California while the station owner gets .09-.13 per gallon profit. WTF??? the government is making a crap load of money while producing ZERO product but we as a society want to hang the oil companies whom employee 100's of thousands of people and invest countless billions in R&D and operating costs. It's called the free market and I for one am glad as hell we have it because we would not be the country we are without it.

A little economics 101 does the body good.

Kg...

I'm getting 17.3-18 around town zero freeway driving and on my trip to San Diego this weekend roughly 225 miles round trip I got 22.4 (hand calculated) and that was with me driving it pretty hard at times seeing what she would do. I am very impressed so far at the mileage over my HEMI. Hehe

Sorry Billy, but you're NEVER gonna convince me that demand is 2x more than it was prior to 6 years ago ( 9-11 ), and yet diesel fuel has gone up twice as much since then.

The price of Diesel was steady in the $1.75 to $2.00 range until a storm called Katrina hit in 2005 then diesel jumped from $1.99 to $3.09 a gallon (less then a week after it hit) here in north Iowa and gas went from $2.20 to $2.75 almost over night and it has not come back to where it was before it hit shore. That storm was just a good excuse to push up the price and keep it their.

FYI from the EIA.

WHAT ARE THE COMPONENTS OF THE RETAIL PRICE OF DIESEL FUEL?
The cost to produce and deliver diesel fuel to consumers includes the costs of crude oil, refinery processing, marketing and distribution, and retail station operation. The retail pump price reflects these costs and the profits (and sometimes losses) of the refiners, marketers, distributors, and retail station owners. The relative share of these cost components to the retail price varies over time and among regions of the country. Figure 3 illustrates the percentage share for each major cost element of the national average retail price in 2006. The price on the pump also includes Federal, State, and local taxes. In 2006, Federal excise taxes were 24.4 cents per gallon and State excise taxes averaged about 21.8 cents per gallon.2 Some States and county and city governments levy additional taxes. The retail price also reflects local market conditions and factors such as the location and the marketing strategy of the owner. Some retail outlets are owned and operated by refiners, while others are independent businesses that purchase diesel fuel for resale to the public.
