Default 5.9 diesel question

hey guys,
im new to diesel so bear with me. Just got a new 5.9l sitting at the house, although i havent even seen it. Had the gf start it up every so often and she said when it starts up it cranks fine, just when shutting it off it shakes the whole truck... i dont know if that is normal. I did test drive some 5.9l at the dealer and they did the same thing...but none of the chevy or fords ive driven have shut down so hard.

Normal, especially on the old body style. It is just a factor of large engine trying to slow down (lots of rotating mass in there).

That is my favorite thing about my truck, lol. The shaking when you turn it off, like it is just tired and stretching out, lol. Are you deployed? What is the reason for you not seeing your truck and your girl starting it for you?

When it finally does shut down and has that loud shreek at the end I've had people come up and be like "I think something is wrong with your truck. You might want to get it looked at"...one guy was a tree hugger (not as bad as Drew's story) and I responded with "So that's where those two squirrels ended up...hmmm...guess I don't have to worry about them anymore" and walked away...he wasn't exactly happy

Nice, Yea I was concerned as well at first when mine did that, but now I rather enjoy it. Kind of amazing how just shutting it down shakes the truck like that. reassures me of the power.

just make sure you have the doors closed. . .Ive actualy heard of instances where the frame cracked where the door is mounted due to the shaking
