wow... i haven't been on this forum for some time. i jumped back on today and saw this thread. going since '07. holy smokes!! i can't believe it, it seems this forum is waaaaaay behind on the 6.7 fixes. the "new" turbo referenced above, is the same turbo with the cleaning port from the factory. yes, some of the flashes have helped reduce soot accumulation, but the problem is still prevalent. didn't notice in my brief search if deletes can be talked about on here or not, but i guess this will be deleted if not. anyway, the ONLY true fix for the 6.7 right now is to get rid of the emission crap causing all of the troubles with this motor. yes, running them hard, towing heavy, etc., will certainly help, but not likely eliminate the troubles. my truck was in the shop a number of times during it's first 9000 miles. had the turbo replaced, turbo cleaned 2x, egr valve and cooler cleaned, forced dpf burns. you get the picture. i did a full 5" turbo back exhaust, removed the egr valve and cooler and installed block off plates. installed the edge w/attitude, S&B cold air intake, and a few other goodies. my truck has not seen a dealer since. that has been over 12,000 miles ago now. i did all of those mods within a one week period. no codes at all since!! yes, my warranty is gone, but the only thing i was using it for were the problems that i fixed. if something happens to the motor, i'll foot the bill. dodge will still fix non motor related problems. a/c, power windows, radio etc.. my only regret is that i didn't do the deletes the very day i bought the truck!

Smile Help!!! - Dodge Ram 2500 6.7L diesel

I purchased my Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 6.7 L Diesel new in September of 2008. The check engine light came on before my first 1000 miles. Had it the light cleared last at about 10,000 miles. Yesterday at 14,400 miles, the truck broke down and had to be towed to the dealer. They are telling me the emmission system is clogged and needs to be cleaned. I'm not a mechanic by any stretch - I just like the 2500 truck. After reading many postings on this site, I get the feeling I'm in for a lot of misery...... Do these issues center arounfd the BlueTec system? Are the most of the problems mainly related to the engine components that control emmissions. Any help/explanations would be appreciated. I traded in a 2004 Ram 2500 with 5.9 L Diesel for this truck. Never had one issue with the 04 after about 90,000 miles. Guess I should have kept that one. Thanks.

I have an 08 2500 with the 6.7. I only have 24000 KM on it, but I haven't had a single issue as of yet. I was told this problem wasn't as prevelent in Canada because we use cleaner diesel. Not sure if thats true or not. So I was wondering if anyone from Canada is having these problems? Just want to clear of some myths, or what I can expect in the future.

I bought my 08' 2500 6.7 4x4 in July of 08'. I have drove it like I stole it. Right at 55,000 miles with nothing but new fuel filters and oil changes. Pulling a 30' RV 25,000 of those miles. All the sudden check engine light comes on. P2262 & P0489. I noticed soot dripping out of the exhaust pipe. The last 4 months I have been easy on it only driving to project area and idling for long periods. Surprise Surprise the dealers never have time for anyone. I am leaving for a 1900 mile trip pulling camper with the lights on. Hopefully I make it to the south where service means something to dealers and not just a sale. Thanks a lot Ryan Chrysler of Williston, ND.

You need to return to service dept every time the light comes on. I had an 07 and did this about 10 times every time it came on and then called customer service in the back of your book. Fought with them for 2 months and told them I was going lemon law. Finally they told me to go to dealer and order new one which I did and cost me 1200.00. I now have an 08 and it has been good. They wanted to charge around 3000.00 for some depreciation which I said no way that I would get a lawyer. Keep all paperwork! Customer service is who you need to call. Good luck.

WOW, if you are only getting 290kms/tank you've got major problems!! i think you'd better talk to dodge customer service or maybe a different dealer at least! btw your tank should be 129 litres, so your mileage is even worse.
i've been getting about 1000km/tank deleted, with added power.

Default Diesel Problems with 6.7

I had a 2007 3500 which almost imediately less than 500 miles had the check eng light issues. Took to dealer flashed or reprogrammed the computer and was back on before 1000 miles. The next trip back they replaced the turbo. Never had another check engine light or any other issues with the truck. Milage was around 19 MPG city and 21 hwy with six speed. Any time my engine was running I had the jake brake turned on. I don't know if that contributed to the fact I had no further issues. It had 53,000 miles when traded for a 2012 with same engine and tranny. Maybe ask your dealer about a turbo change. Hope this helps.
