Still a problem?
I was getting the 0216, 1693, and 1694 codes and it was white smoking pretty good. I changed the lift pump and the vp44. Now it is still smoking white and the 1694 (Turbo Charge Relief Circuit Malfunction) code came back up. Any Ideas?
Sorry so late to reply, I had to go out of town.
Yes sir. It has a Hyperchip I had it at factory when I started it, I changed it to performance and it sounds like it misses on that setting. It had a code about the camshaft sensor that came up once before I swapped the pumps. Would that make it white smoke? Im new to diesels. Im already starting to dislike them.

Check your fuel filter. Then check your fuel PSI!
White smoke is a good indication of fuel starvation. You aren't getting enough fuel pressure up to the VP44. Check the pressure at the test points with a pressure gauge (you can get one at any local parts house for around $25). I would definately check this out before running the turck! You can ruin that new VP44 if it starves for fuel!!

There should be a schrader valve on the banjo bolt going into the VP44 and also a schrader valve on the back of the fuel filter assembly (between the assembly and the fire wall). I'd check it at the VP44 banjo bolt.
after your gasser dies at around 150,000 and you got a diesel in the yard with 500,000 you will not hate them after to long....

My gasser Chevrolet is used everyday with Over 210,000 on it right now. All Ive ever had to do was change the battery, brakes once, a power steering pump(my fault), and a rear seal. It has never left me stranded.
The gasser before I got 265,000 out of it before I sold it.
The diesel has given me some problems. Then diesel keeps going up since I bought it. But, Im willing to work with it since I like the truck.
