Default need help with water seperator

When draining the water from the water seperator, am I suppose to drain all the liquid out or what? I drained some of it out and it was clear like water but smelt like diesel.I'm not changing the fuel filter but I just read on here that i'm suppose to drain the water every so often. Any help?

you don't have to drain it all unless your changing the filter. Just drain a little into a bucket and see if there is any water in it.

I am bad about following my own advise on this one but... I like to drain once a month at least.

Like Jakebrake said, you just need to drain a little. Water is denser than fuel, so if there's any water in the separater it will come out first when you open the valve.

I never drain mine, I just replace the seperator at 15k. I dump the fuel out of it to check for water when I do, and the has never been any water at all. Never had any water ever from this fuel station in 2 1/2 years of fillin my truck up there. Looks like I found myself a good fuel station

Yeah, I've yet to drain my FASS either. It'll get drained whenI change the filters.
