Wen re-studdingthe head, it sounds like it comes off and goes to a machine shop, not something to be done under a shady tree?

Sharx........when ya said I could float the head, I read that as blowing a head gasket. Isn't that corrected by re-studding the head?

Its worse than blowing a head gasket and yes, restudding it will take care of that possability.

OK, good to know, but I guess what I'm getting at is that when advancing up to the "hot" level on the juice, a few internal upgrades may be advised. Re-studding the heads, as you mentioned, what about the turbo, exhaust manifold, intake, intercooler, all that good stuff?
Would I be opening a can of worms in upgrades to handle the increase of power?

The turbo would be the only thing Id keep an eye on, it sounds like once you restud...everything else should be ok, watch your turbo tho

Doesn't it smoke more on the extreme setting at low RPMs? How do you have your low boost fueling set? I suppose a person couldturn the low boost fueling down on the extreme setting, but what fun is that[:'(]
Mine set to 5/5smokes a bit, so I usually keep it on the tow setting where it doesn't smoke thinking it should be getting better mileage.

So I take it that the only setting that really changes with the "hot" upgrade is the Extreme setting?--sweet.

No, all settings bump up, 3 now is what 5 used tobe. I run with my low boost fueling set to smoke the most in extreme mode. I dont understand why I get better mileage in extreme mode, "Bruce" must rather play than drive like a grandpa!
