That is a bad move.[sm=bangbang.gif]

Then after a fewdays you'll get the sickness and your wallet will be empty.

Don't idle your new truck for long periods (more than 10 minutes / hour of operation), don't come off the interstate after running high speeds and shut right down, especially if you've been towing, a short 2 - 3 minutes of idle is in order. A working diesel is a happy diesel, after the first 500 miles hook up to the heaviest trailer you can find and tow it agressively. This will aid in breaking in your new engine. Drive it and enjoy it.

thanks for the answers guys. yes it is an 08 and yes it has the 6.7 in it. i dont tow very much and when i do its on borrowed trailers so would just romping on it around town be an acceptable substitution instead of towing the trailer? and ill be sure to keep the thing about the idle in mind. im guessing i only have to let it idle for a couple minutes if i come right off the interstate, but for around town driving i should be fine just to park it in my driveway and shut it down?

i was a first diesel owner when i got my truck. i let it idle for a few mins here and there and havnt had any problems. although i just put 3k on it and had to have the emmissions light come on at 2800. other than that i havnt had any problems and i love the truck i was told at the dealer though that if u dont have the cap on tight enough it can set the emmisions light off in the truck. also u gotta use the newer ULSD diesel. thats ultra low sulfur diesel. what color and ya gonna take some pics?

Change the stock oil around 2500 miles to I use Synthetic Rotella T 15w-40 but theres Royal purple which is said to be best. After that Change at 5k milesthen again every 5Kor thats my .02. Some guys go 10k miles. I just do closest to 5k as I can, been doing around 5500-6k miles last 2-3 changes.

Edit-Actually dont use Syntetic till around 20k miles so it makes it break in more.

What cutter said, but i'd wait until 25k~30k before going to synth. oil every 5k, fuel filters every 10k.

ok its a done deal but i havent picked it up yet because they had to let the battery charge and there was one more paper they forgot to get me to sign (i had to leave early and leave my dad and pawpaw to finish the deal because of my EMS class) they gave me 10,500 on my trade in which is in my sig below and has 44k miles on it. the reason i didnt get more is because i have hauled a 4 wheeler in the bed quite a few times and its pretty banged up back there, and then we paid 29,000 even. so all in all it came out to 39,500 before TTL. the color is bright silver metallic and it looks awesome. cant wait til i have some money to get the ranch hand bumpers (front and back) and fender flares on it. mild lift kit will come later on. im gonna go pick it up tomorrow after school and ill be sure to take some pics for yall, but im not sure if ill be able to get them up tomorrow or not. but anyways thanks for your help and im looking forward to learning more about these trucks.

btw...on these new diesels with all the emissions crap thats on them, has anyone had any problems with putting a straight pipe on it. if there wont be any issues ill have the straight pipe on it by the weekend most likely.
