Default Gas $5.00 per gallon

Well it has happened.

Gorda, a town just south of Big Sur in Northern California has their patrons paying $5.00 per gallon of gasoline. I have no idea what the price of diesel there is.

I don't get excited at all about the gouging of America wether it's gas or diesel. These rising fuel costs are really gonna put a strain on this country for sure ...

Welcome to the world people, our declining dollar, foreign policy ans the increasing world demand of oil is not going to help anything anytime soon. If people still think Bush went to Iraq for the oil, I think they can shut up now.

I hear ya....

I don't worry about gas prices at all. I have to drive, go to work, and go to play so I just pay it ya know and carpool when I can.

People buy their Red Bull's for $3.00 a pop but cry about gas prices.

;o)

So how long do you think it will be before the gov't starts controlling the price of fuel? We need new refineries, and we need the oil companies to re-invest in alternative fuels. Something has to happen, and the war in Iraq isn't helping. It might even come to rationing.

We've been saying that for a few years now...but it never happens.....and only when it benefits someone in Congress or the Presidency will anything be done about it...

I wouls love to be spending alot less on fuel that is for sure, there is not really a way around the price though. We adjust our budget, and also carpool when we can as well. I also don't "play" as much anymore

Ya know people get pissed at the oil companies for making money but why is that nobody whines about how much the government makes on a gallon of gas? Here in California the government gets .61 per gallon on unleaded and closer to .70 per gallon on diesel and they are getting that money for basically offering ZERO product.

It amazes me how the private sector people that actually offer the product get banished to hell for making a profit yet most people pay ZERO attention to how much money the government is raking in on fuel sales.

not to start a pissing match, but I think the money the gov't gets is actually called a "tax". That tax money goes to pay for all the roads you drive on as well as a bunch of other stuff.

I don't beleive that there is any one answer, but most definately our situation could be eased some if indvidual states allow offshore drilling. It's unknown just how much oil sits below our oceans just off shore our east and west coasts. Also included in that United States soveignity is an anourmous amount of oil in Alaska.

The debate will go on as to wether or not to drill in these places, but in the mean time, China , rumor has it, has oris planning to drill in the shallow depths ofinternational waters off the coast of southren Florida.

It's a global market for the oil that we import, all the traders are yelling in their bids. Dosen't look good for the future, I just think with all the technology established here in the US, we could find another alternitive. Wouldn't you love to tell the foreign oil producing countries..................Naw...just keep it, we don't need it !
