Default HO or not HO???

First let me say "Howdy" to everyone and see if anyone can answer my question...I just recently bought my first CTD, it's a white '03 2500 4x4 quad cab/long bed...When I bought it I assumed that it was the standard output engine because it doesn't have the "High Output" badges, however upon closer inspection I see that the sticker on the driver side of the valve cover lists the HP rating as 305...Also the Tranny code in the glove box shows it to be a 48RE...Soooo my question is, Which engine do I have?? Did they sell the HO version without the external "HO" badging or is it possible someone switched the valve cove to a cleaner/in better shape one to sell the truck?? Or can I VIN code out the truck and tell that way?? Sorry if this sounds like a stupid question...Thanks

not a stupid question at all dude. I don't know if the one you have is a HO model. I think only the trucks that had 310 or was it like 325 and 610 lb ft were the HO models. there's also some stuff about the block 53 block or something that tells you what it is but I don't understand it. sooner or later a couple of the experts on this forum will enlighten everyone.

[align=left]I think in '03 the standard output was 250 HP/460 lb ft and the HO was 305 HP/555 lb ft...or something like that

You have the HO. It wasn't until 04.5 that they went to 325/600.

Yeah, andthe 305/555 HO is also one of the most fuel efficient CTD's out there.

I've got the 305/555 amd I'm getting between 19.5 - 20.9 mpg out of a tank. Before anyone rings in that is hand calculated not the lie-o-meter. I says 26mpg!! Great mileage!
