mab what does regen mean?
Regen = regeneration

The 6.7 has a DPF (diesel particulate filter) on it. Catches all the soot and other bad (at least acording to some ) stuff. Then every so often it ramps the EGT (exhaust gas temps) up and burns all the soot off.

It is supposed to help the environment...personally I don't see the value in making me burn more fuel...then making me dump a **** load of fuel to burn off the stuff that was captured....seems to be a bit of reverse logic going on...save the planet from carbon by making me burn MORE diesel....rant over I swear.

Don't get me completely wrong the 6.7 was a great truck. It pulled like there was no tomorrow. It was a blast to drive. We had the stick so the clutch was a bit heavy but it's a work truck it is supposed to be

I really want 15 city and 18-20 highway at 60 mph... I think those are resonable numbers.

That is the scoop in a nut shell. Fuel milage sucks in the 6.7 and there is much stuff to go wrong with it because of the emmissions crap. What you need is a 5.9L !!!
Just sit back for a few days and read these forums before you make your purchase. You will learn all kinds of stuff about both engines and go make an informed purchase from that.
I am SO GLAD I found this forum before I bought my truck. I remember comeing here for a few days and reading up about the 6.7L and that was enough for me.
Thanks To all DF members for that (even though I wasn't a member yet)

You 5.9 guys make me.........LOL! Regen or Regeneration is the cleaning or burning out of the DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) on your truck. This is done by adding extra fuel to the system thus raising the temp and burning off the contaminates in the filter.

You Will Not get those #'s . The only way you will get those numbers is if you hire a tow truck with a 5.9L to tow you around town.
I drove a 6.7 for a week and couldn't get it to do 15mpg at 55mph!
Run like hell if you are looking for fuel milage. Have you put a downpayment on it yet, Signed a contract?
