Im scared to death of taking my truck to the dealer. I went in there last week to get the correct torque specs on my transmission bands and had to argue with the warranty manager that they even existed. I finally offered to go out and show him the adjustment screw when the transmission tech came in and verified that you can adjust the bands. However, the transmission tech had no clue what the specs were! The manager whom I was talking to has the exact same truck as mine, and his excuse was, "Oh, ya, I just runthe sh*t out of it and then trade it in so the guy who buys ithas to deal with it." Sheesh!!![:@][:@]

You know, if the people working at the dealerships were nice, honest and up front about everything, dealerships wouldn't have the rep they do. I don't expect them to know everything, but just be honest and tell me you don't know but you will find someone that does. I would assume that good mechanics would make better money opening their own shop or working for a local shop then they would a dealer so they're stuck with what's left.

As far as the folks that think the dealership are the only ones that can do the work fell for their marketing. When a car ad says "all work done by the dealer,"I just laugh. That's not always a good thing.

What wrong with Auto Zone Brakes, they are life time brakes and I haven't had any problems with them on my DAK over 225000 miles.

But if I do I get something else, but even they would have sold me higher dollar if I wanted.

Now when it's come to electrical parts, I go to NAPA

I good friend of mine has a 93 Honda Accord with 300k on it. He takes it to the dealer at every service interval and has never had a minutes trouble with it. I was the one who pointed out that he has spent enough to buy two new cars for what he has spent over the past 15 years instead.

It does not make sence that autozone brakes would be any different than anyone elses .they have to meet certain standards .I know that if i bought brakes and got in an accident after i just replaced them I would be talking to a lawer !! As forturning the rotors if you have a break lath they are the same as any other disk !! what a load !!

Bob Dodge dealershipsbrake pads are lifetime warranty through Mopar
Auto zones are not! In fact, they are junk you do not want to put these pads on a large truck that will be hualing things. Auto zone Padsare not rated to do that. You will be replaceing them every six months with multiple rotor replacements because these pads just eat up the rotors you do not want to be replaceing these rotors it is very complicated. Even if the rotors do need turned, which they may not, it is a very complicated job on these trucks and not for the novice. The dealership has an on the car brake lathe that would have cost them 8,000 and they can turn the rotrs on the truck. All being said I can go on and on more about why the dealership needs to do this repair glad I could enlighten you. safe driving
For those that ranted about the above post. The guy works at a dealership thus the bias. He may be related to the Almighty so be nice.

Yeah so I do my brakes and always manage to pull off this complex task....I use autozone pads, they work fine I usually get about 40k outta my front pads and double outta the back ones....

When I bought my 04 it came with a few free oil changes woo hoo, so they change it and I leave before I know it I got leaks all over, they put in way to much!

And while I was waitin for my oil to be changed the service manager walks out with this square air filter that was covered with grease and dirt and said I needed to change it he said he'd do it for $80!!! Well I had a K&N intake witha cone filter....WTF I go to the dealer when I HAVE to not for lil crap....Its $75 for a set of windshield wipers down here to...WTF...Stealership it is, no offense to the honest workin guys that work there...
