I have seen a guy do that on a Ford, but never seen it done on a Dodge. The truck should idle up to about 1000 RPM on its own in cold temps. Mine doesn't do that too often because of where I live, but it has done it before. I beleive you need to have the cruise control to use the other controllable idle function.

Parts / Service, that clutch switch kit you were referring to adds a second switch to the clutch and all it does is run the ground connection from that pin on the ecm through the switch at the clutch. I got the switch kit from Cummins but if I had to do it again, I would just get the pin and ground it.

Someone said if you have an auto, you should run the high idle in neutral so tranny fluid will flow. I have not heard that andI have been running mine in park. Could i have done so damage???

It's possible. Your owner's manual says to let it idle in neutral if stuck in traffic, etc.
