AZ Rains (OT)
Did anyone get out in the rain or mud during our fine weather?
My kayaking group had a good couple of weeks with a Toyota Tacoma ending in a shop due to vandalism while on the river. the other car on this outing ended up with some water damage as the drainage flashed on them. The other half of us want to the east Verde river from east Verde estates to baby doll ranch. Some great white water in there.
On Saturday I left my house for a 6 mile paddle from 1 mile short of crown king AZ to cleator AZ. Our goal was to be the first to paddle Poland creek through what they call hells hole. We put on the river around 9:30 am. The amount of water was perfect as we headed down stream there were many slides and falls. To cap of a seemingly good river trip we ended up 3.8 miles short of our destination just before sunset. We gathered enough fire wood to last the night. This was the coldest night ever I can recall in my paddling experience.
The next day we finished paddling the river at about 2:30pm. I made it back to phoenix by 4:00 to get in trouble by the misses for not calling the night before. Huh like i planned to be away all night.
On the bright side of things the truck performed awesome in the mud *** this was the first actual mud that was longer than 100 yds for the truck. It was sweet.

just curious, what size tires and lift do you have? and i wish i was in your shoes, getting stuck while kayaking.. havent been able to have that kind of fun in a long time. the last time i went was about 2 years ago, open top kayak, and no white water... makes it easy to drink the beer, but thats all the excitement there is....

bad freakin' ***! how long have you been kayaking? i've never done anything that technical... maybe a 3 at most, but that was a long time ago when i was still living in CO. the rivers here in tx have no kick to them. as i said before though, they are great for sitting in a tube and floating a cooler of beer along side you[sm=partyparty.gif]
