OFF ROAD DIESEL
How would off road diesel void warranty?
during the hurricane here we were allowed to burn off road for hurricane ivan?
does it leave any trace in the motor?
i know it is red but if you run the truck empty and fill up with clear does it clean it up?

Should not void your warranty at all if it is D2. Who is to say you did not use it "off road" for agriculture use or on private property, or a construction site. The "red" dye just indicates that no highway taxes were paid on the fuel.
If I had a fueling tank in my bed I have a feed on it so I could switch between tanks in case of an emergency or when I running private property running gators, then they would be no red dye in my tank, not that I ever heard of themchecking tanks in Florida.
Except for the rental shops, I guess they got caught, but then they probably fired someone and got turned in.

There are several legitimate uses for red diesel. Like the guys that work on the pipelines, the rail road workers, and so on. As long as it is not on a public road while burning it, you're within law.
I am sorry for the long post but I thought I would share some info. Running red diesel can result in the dealer not doing a repair under warranty. If a problem with the fuel system arises, the dealer is supposed to take a fuel sample. If red diesel is detected, the powers that be can refuse to warranty a fuel related part. From experience, we had a guy with a 3rd gen truck with a dead injection pump. We replaced the pump and sent in the core. Few weeks later we get notified that Dodge is not gonna reimburse us for a $4,600.00 repair because it had had red diesel ran through it. They said that the "trash" in the fuel had killed the pump. I called and asked how it was determined that red diesel was used and was told that there is a "wick" in the pump that detects red diesel. If you are gonna run red, please filter it good.
