What size hole to drill for pyro?
Mine was a 1/8" NPT; someare 1/4" NPT.... it's not what most are accustumed to being a normalnut and bolt thread.
It's a pipe thread. NPT=National Pipe Thread. I found the tap at Lowes. I don't remember the drill size.

I believe the recommended drill bit size for a 1/8 NPT tap is 11/64" not too sure so better double check. A lot of the taps you buy nowadays have the drill bit size on the tap.
I just bought one of these taps today at napa (1/8 pipe tap). It says to use a 11/32" drill bit, but the instructions on genos say 5/16" and autometer say to use a 5/16" type R which is right inbetween the other 2. I'm going to try the 5/16" first and see how it goes tomorrow
caleb. . .go with the 11/32, heck if you can find a 23/64 that would be even better. . .I think I have one laying around the house that I used.
the reason I say this is that the slightly larger size will reduce the material the tap has to go through thus makeing it easier for the tap to cut the threads

Wow, thanks for the tip drew, that didnt even cross my mind. I'll go with the 11/32; I dont think I have a 23/64 lyin around. My concern was that if I went with the bigger bit, there wouldnt be enough material to tap, but not anymore
I just did this a few weeks ago and if I remember correctly I think it was a 21/64" bit and a 1/8 NPT tap. I drilled a 1/8" pilot hole and it helped a lot. Also be sure and leave the engine running when you drill and all of the shavings will be blown out instead of falling into the manifold. When I was tapping the hole I just put some grease on the tap instead of running the engine (this took a few minutes).
I believe I had a 1/8" npt on mine. used "r" size drill. I believe the drill itself is tapered as is the the tap, not a straight tap like a nut. however 11/32or 21/64should work. R is int between the two.
