Default Disc Brakes Kit for Any Trailer

Has anyone tried one of these kits? I think it may solve all of my braking problems, but it is kinda expensive if you ask me. They showed this on Truck U show earlier this morning. I think a Brakesmart controller will do the same thing because it is proportionate too. Unless you tow in a hilly area a lot, I really don't see an advantage to the disc brakes.

I would love to put disks on my 5th wheel. Look at www.morryde.com and look at there brake kit. When I
purchased my hitch pin, I believe the salesmen said there
brake kit was like $1700 for a 2 axle trailer. This is an excellent
company and stands behind every product. And if you are near
near there factory in Indiana, they also will do the install.

WOW I never knew disc brakes were available for trailers. Is that a new thing? If so, I wonder why it took so long?

They had them for a while on pontoons, but only on surge brakes

I'm wondering how well the hydraulic to electric back to hydraulic works???? If it has a sensor that reads how hard you are pressing down on the brake pedal, then translates that back to the trailer, then this is a good thing. If not, it probably won't work any better. My small bumper pull trailer wheels are either turning free, or locked up. There is no in between. The larger trailer is a little bit better, but not by much. I am so disgusted with the brake controllers on the market.

I think that I am still going to go with the Brakesmart box. It will work on more than one trailer, this kit will only work on one trailer. If the brakesmart doesn't work, then I might try one of these on the big trailer.

CowboyBob, I have been using the Prodigy brake controller for the past 3 years. My 5th wheel trailer is heavy and several times I have had to stop very quickly. By using my exhaust brake, transmission and the trailer brakes we have been very lucky not to have an accident with all the crazy drivers out there. I adjust the controller for the highway and when we get into stop and go traffic or in the campground I adjust it to a different less aggressive setting. I have been towing 5th wheels since 1998, well over 150,000 miles. I would probably order disc brakes on my next trailer but that will be way down the road.
