Default got to crank a while to start then run perfect

Usually as soon the engine crank Beasty wake up,
but since last week it took about 10 sec of cranking to get the engine running and i also got the P0230 code
as i run dual lift pump even if my primary lift pump fail i wont kill my Vp44
So this morning i wired my auxiliary lift pump to start when the key is turned on,this is much better now worse is 5 sec of cranking
just to make sure when the truck is running i unpluged the auxiliary lift pump for about 5 secs and immediatly the truck run rough and deal pedal case!

So its all back then and its run real nice now
but here my question:
now it take more time than before to start the engine is my original lift pump who doesnt not work anymore is making hard for the fuel to reach the vp44???

Woli, my guess is that the original one is dying--did you check the fp with the auxillary unhooked. It makes sense to me that if the original one is dying (or probably dead) and the auxillary pump has to pull the fuel through it, there would be more resistance, be harder to pump and cause problems.

i say probably dead since when i unhook the auxiliary the engine rpm goes down, rumble and even if i mash the pedal rpm dont climb much past 1000rpm and very hardly
and no i didnt check the Fuel pressure as my damn gauge/pod order is still backorder, ill order it right from summit this week if my supplier cant come whit it....
im waiting since 4 weeks and im sick of this

ill remove the original one and replace it whit a new one so ill still have 2 pump as a safe fail that already saved me my injection pump, finally Fass or Airdog unit will be installed
even if i think this is not much necessary,a good pump is all i think is needed, but hey im kinda the guy who go left when everybody go right so i dunno maybe this time ill go right too :P
Ill install by the same time an amsoil oil filtration device, this is a good thing i think.

Too much fuel pressure will cause a hard start on a VP44 engine. You're running dual pumps at the same time? What is your PSI?

You can get a hand held fuel pressure gauge for about $20. I'd get one and check your PSI at the test port of the VP44.

easiest fix to this problem is one I mentioned in the past. Give me Beasty. I will deliver bruce in exchange. Sharx will get the Minivan and everyone is happy.
