Whoever designed the grease fitting on the front driveshaft otta have have his &^% kicked and then fired and then kicked again. I just can not beleive some college boy is that stupid[:@]. Any redneck back yard mechanic would have used something other than a hope it goes in world's smallest hole and even harder to access piece of crap like that. I bougt the needle and did the job but GOOD GRIEF. What the heck were they thinking. And you guys that get your truck serviced by the dealer or a jiffy joint, Dont expect those guys to even make an effort to actually get grease in the hole. RANT RANT RANT, I recon manual locking hubs are in order to keep the dang shaft from turning.
It's not as bad once you figure out the angle needed to get at it, yes I agree RETARDED design. First time I greased that point I made one hell of a mess. Next time I got it with no issue. And yeah don't count on any quick lube joint finding it, much less getting any grease it the thing.
Yea, I've been reading all the DIYs and this one really had me scratching my head. With all the technology in these trucks, is that the best they could do? Geesh... Just more reason whywe do our own service.
I actually had a dealership put it on my service record that they did NOT lube it because 'there was no lube point'. When we switched dealerships and they saw that in the service record the service manager almost fell out of her chair laughing. She actually drove the 45 miles to go SHOW them how to do the service.
