Tow rope\strap size?
Now that I have a 4x4 *grunt*grunt*
I'd like to pick up a decent tow rope just in case I run across someone needing some help. I'm thinking about a 20' strap with hooks and at least 10k pound weight rating.
Should this be enough? Recommendations?
Thanks!

BIGGER!!!
Bigger is always better, unless you see alot of Mini coopers in the mud. I have a 35k lb cat rope about 30 feet long. I like it, especially when ya hook on and tell the other guy to "put her nuterual...keep the wheels straight... buckle up and HOLD ON!"

Well, I was looking at something like this too.

Since it's only rated at 9500#s, I figured I'd stop there.
Do you have a strap or rope and how do you attach it to your receiver?
Mike
That would work, but I would go with a heavier strap, 16k to 24k that 10k strap won't last long. Cat "rope" with eyelets.

I use this to hook up, Cat rope stretches when I pull and it does all the work!

i had a 10k strap with hooks and i snapped it pulling a 1500 out of a 1 foot ditch in the snow ( no slack either).... i can still use the strap because it broke at the hook but im going to have once nasty knot to get out after i use it!
go big or go home

CAT ROPE... like it suggests... it stretches, which means it does the work, you pull on it to stretch it and the elasticity converts to pulling force. I pulled a fellow out of a snow filled ditch, the only thing stickin out was his receiver hitch, he buried so far all he could do was roll his window down a few inches. I hooked on, put her in 4wheel gunned it till rope stretched and out he "popped". The look on his face when he seen all 4 of mywheels spinnin as I laid on the "go" pedal, was priceless.
Look at it this way, your truck weighs what, somewhere between 8000 to 9000lbs empty. Don't get equipment that is rated that close to the empty weight of the vehicle. You are going to almost max out your equipment each time you use it.
I would go 30K on the strap. The clevis is probably way higher than the stated rating, but $48 sounds high for that setup.
