may buy a used cummins. HELP
right now I have an 06 1500 4x4 qc, im moving to Jacksonville fla where gas is 3.50 and diesel 4. Would probably look at a late model second gen, just want to know if it really does Drip Oil Drop Grease Everywhere. It wouldnt be my daily driver, I'm either gonna buy a bike or through my contact at toyota just get a used camry for whatever the dealer paid for it on a trade in. I'm trying to avoid this all together because I really want to buy a new cummins in about 2 years. But dont know if I can stick it out in my gasser doing 2k miles a month at 3.50 a gal avg 14mpg.
What should I look out for, most miles you'd buy one with if you dont want to have to be tinkering with it often, I know the engine will last forever but its the rest of the veh I'm worried bout. Also how do the 4x4 transfer cases hold up, I will never buy a 2wd truck. Are there any bad years to stay away from? On the farm to market road I live off of there's several cummins parked up front on peoples acreage that are for sale. I'm fairly certain I could buy a cummins in Texas cheaper and get more for my gasser in fl.
Yeah I know mytowrig is probably laughing that I'd now have to deal with getting another damn vehicle out to fla
Thanks for any input.

RE: may buy a used cummins. HELP
Beware the "53 Block" found in the Cummins 24v ISB engine in a 1998-2001 model year vehicle Ram.

RE: may buy a used cummins. HELP
As far as milage goes, after reading and researching, and then reading and researching some more, I decided that the most miles I'd buy used with was 100K. Mine had 103K on the odo when I drove off the lot. Haven't had even a minor problem as of yet, 3K later (knock on wood).

No I aint going anywhere, I just want to get some miles on my odometer. Break it in faster so I can see the better mileage sooner.
As far as the hole in my wall, I spackled and sanded it, and spackled it some more, and roughed it up a little so it looks more like the drywall. Tomorrow I will probably paint it, and then I will post some pics of what it looks like.

dont know what your LES looks like but if you dont have enough leave you ought to just go awol and come down here and go tubing down the guadalupe and get some real BBQ at coopers in Llano.
just jack the truck up and put a brick on the gas, sure would have been some **** had you done that and the jack failed then.. youd have a much bigger hole in your house to deal with then..
have you taken it back and bought a new one yet?
Spurs 60-37 with 2 min left in the 2nd qtr!!!
youre married right? if yall are into road trips and scenery a drive up to palo duro canyon and back would put some miles on it and you get to see texas...

I am planning on tubing the Guadalupe when the summer comes. I have seen alot of Texas already. The only big cities I havent been to are Lubbock and Corpus Christi. I would like to see West Texas, I guess I will see that next winter when I go home to Arizona. I am gonna take I-10 instead of 40. Northern New Mexico is a wasteland.
