Default fix it if it ain't broke?

just wondering... how much can you tear up on your tranny or other parts by running more than the 'allowed' over stock HP that could have been less damage with preventative measures? i know that sounds a little muddy... would there be any difference in the amount of damage if i ran, say 90-125 HP over stock till something broke, or would it be cheaper and more cost effective to replace a perfectly good part before it broke? or even more simply put: if i ran my tranny hard and broke 3 main tranny parts, could that be prevented by changing out 1 part early on? if so, what would this one part be? also, isspro vs. dipricol vs. autometer?

personally about the gauges, im thinkin autopmeter is the way to go, biggest name around and the sport comp ultra lite II's look the best to me, ill be ordering a 0-60psi mechanical boost gauge and 0-100 psi electric fuel press gauge from them soon. if you can afford it, go with the autometer nexus, by far the sharpest looking gauges on the market, but wayyyyyy to much $$$

how bout selling the tranny before it blows on you and buy a new one....

id think it would be better spending the money on good synth fluid, a major tranny cooler and a deeper pan with some fins... or just buying

heres a beefed up tranny for your truck

didnt spend but 5 seconds looking for an aftermarket tranny, but im sure theres others out there

i know theres lots of options, and if i did buy a whole tranny i'd prob go with ATS, but that is what i am trying to avoid. if theres a single part, like a shaft, or a TqC, i don;t plan on running 500 horses or nothing like that... i just want to run maybe 100 over stock without hurting anything. and i dont know if there is that big a market or if i would be able to get much for stock parts, even if they are in perfect condition

ent you, if you have a tranny thats decent and rebuildable they will give you a credit of $1100, and the price of their tranny built already is only like 2300 i think, you should honestly look into that

where is that 02cummins? that post looks inclomplete, unless you mean ENT, never heard of them though. as for the nexus, i'd have to say no cause i'd be looking for the 'stock look' gauges, white face, green numbers, red pointer.

you have a 46rfe right? the 1500's have a 45rfe, and the hemis mod their crap out well over 100 over what its rated at, so im assuming that a heavy duty tranny can handle an extra 100hp, esp if you do those smaller things like synth, pan and cooler.

well if you think about it, a gas motor at 300 hp has alot less torque than a diesel motor at 300hp and the torque is whats gonna tear that **** apart, so i wouldnt rely on anything for gas...thats just my opinion, if a gas motor has 300hp and 300tq then thats a decent setup, so we have almost double that? and the link he sent you is right here, go there and just read about it i wouldnt go with ATS, i hear more bad than good about their transmissions...i would go with their diff coversm and trans pans though, and maybe intake elbow.

when it comes down to it, a tranny is a tranny whoever builds it as long as they are reliable, so maybe its a smnall company gettin bigger and u might find what you need here
