From what I've Heard, There isn't a real bad shortage of OIL. It's the Refineries are at max capacity. They refuse to build new refineries because we're trying to go alternative fuel and others. We will always need oil for gas and diesel, and by the time they build them (with the record Quarterly Profits), we will even need more.
However, the Government wants to spend more money pursuing Athlete and people fighting dogs or not paying taxes than OIL Companies.

I only said it's a fool's errand to have a protest and expectanything good to come of it. Been there and done that. It doesn't work. Never has and never will.

Do you think any of those politicians in washington are looking out their windows and quaking in their boots at the thought of massive trucker turnout at the polls to toss them out? Of course not. They're laughing their comfortable asses off...

I dissagree

While a bunch of non voting truckers might not DIRECTLY get the mission accomplised, what they ARE doing is raising awareness and also letting others know that they aren't alone. Similar to the Million Man March.

I think if these truckers continue to run circles around Washington blowing their horns, and then 2 more truckers show up, and then you get a couple ofyuppies involved running in the circle, and then soccer moms, so on and so forth, THEN some $hit will get done and NOBODY in Washington will be laughing their comfy *** off then.

Dumping some cash into some fatcats pocket expectinga turn around obviously isn't paying off. It's time for people inWashington to SEE how pissed people are. THEN you'll get a reaction. Kinda like what happened after Rodney King got his *** tuned up.

You know what I mean?

You're wrong about that Mayfair. It is paying off. That one lone lobbysist paid for by ordianry truckers is and has beenactively lobbying Congressmen to pass a lawto where all fuel surcharge money paid on a load goes to the person who pays for the fuel going in the truck's tanks. What normally happens is the companies where owner op's are leased on at typically pocket that money or if the o/o is running a brokered load the broker pockets it. Business as usual ask your neighbor about it. He's worked with them on HOS (hours of service issues) too. OOIDA (owner operator independant drivers' association) has for many years been bringing cases of drivers wronged by trucking companiesbefore the courts, winning, and setting precedent. Setting precedent in the courts is probably one of the most important things they do.Years ago the Tennessee PUC was extorting money from truckers. OOIDA took them on in the courts and 10 years later the Tennessee PUC ceased to exist. http://marystruck.us/ooida/MayJuneTN1.pdf, http://marystruck.us/ooida/septoct2.pdf, http://marystruck.us/ooida/MarAprTN3.pdf, http://marystruck.us/ooida/MayAugTN4.pdf Now change don't happen overnight working the system but it does happen. I didn't mean to come off so halfcocked in my first postings. I just think those drivers could direct their efforts and energies elsewhere and be far more productive but again it takes time and persistence. Drivin round circles in washington ain't gonna do nothin. I suppose publicity is good but only for about a news cycle or two and then the public promptly forgets again that everything they have depended on trucks to bring it to them. You mentioned the million man march, again, I have to ask, what did that change? I would also like to know just what in the hell they were marching for in the first place??
