Drafting for better MPG....
Where ever you got your info is wrong ramit, population of town is 9,000, The majority of drivers are in the 25 to 34 age group as this town attracts a lot of young single males looking to make a lot of money quick in the gold mining industry. I don't know how to research it but I am sure that we have more dui per capita than most large cities. You are right on the boat comp. but the boat liability is higher than one might think. Goes back to the dui statement and the young single guys making 70k+ a year in mining. I am 30 years old so I am not out of the high risk age groups yet, as far as the quad statement you are right but since I was quoting my rate I included them.
Bodily injury $500,000 per person
property damage $500,000
med pay $20,000

250 collision

local rep that lives just up the street and I have known and trusted for years.

look into getting pip, I've got it at 100k, that does cost quite a bit, but you should get it, if you're so concerned about bodily injury towards the other person (500k) then why would you only give yourself 20k worth of coverage? I would see that all the time. If you're not familiar with pip, its similar to med pay, but will also cover work loss up to a certain percentage, usually 60-80% so will.help you if you don't have shirt term dis at work and if you do it will cover the gap in what your works STD doesnt cover as it usually gets less and less until it converts to LTD. It'll also pay a certain amount per day/week for services like laundry mowing the lawn, house gleanings, things that you couldn't so because your leg and arm is in a cast etc. Sure you're married but if my wife was injured and I had the option of doing house work or having someone do it at no cost to me, hrm LOL. If your ao INS will allow both pip and med pay, even better. Med pays cost per 1,000 is far less than pips, but your ratio for 20k MP/cost is a lot higher than if you bump it to 50k or 100k
now you do also have uninsured bodily injury (umbi) as well as underinsured motorist bi. But this doesnt help you when you're at fault, and being at fault doesnt mean you won't be injured. So you ought to think of yourself, I really don't understand that as I truely can't tell you how many policies I've seen that have hi bi and low mp/pip. Albeit some of what you're covering yourself against with bi is a lawsuit filing for "pain and suckering"

Why did you go with 500k pd? 300 seems to suffice for just about any af/acc, sure its a per incident so 1 or 5 veh and you still only have that limit, but unless your smashing 2 maybachs your pretty well covered at 300k. May look at taking the savings from that and bumping your med pay and pip so your bill stays the same. Has your rep gone over an umbrella policy with you?
Being married will basically make any charging for age non existant, think I may just get hitched for the rates haha.
Bigriver sorry for the carjacking.
As for the portable cb they range from 100-300, anything more is just more buttons LOL, more presets and like tripple trunking. They have a NASCAR one that has all the preset driver freqs. It just makes more sense to get the port one, some the ant will unscrew so you can still put a magnetic antenna on your truck and just screw in the port cb. But I go hiking/camping a lot so its nice to have that.

When you were 50ft.behind that truck did you think about what you would do if he blew a tire?20lbs.of tire at70mph.can cause a lot of damage. What if there was a animal carcass laying in the road?he could straddle it you would hit it.Just something to think about.
old dodge - 4wd dodge has the same clearance or just about the same.
Actually youll want to be as close to the blowout as possible so it still has forward momentum thus lessening the impact force. Just physics that's all.
And besides, if you can't dodge it RAM IT!!!
Mayfair I'd rather be behind the semi than in front, last time I checked we stop quicker than a semi.

speaking of drafting... with the sunroof open (jetta) even at 75~100' or so you can still hear/feel the effects of the truck up front... wind noise drops significantly when you come up behind them... the closer you get, the quieter it gets...
Steve, I've been thinking about getting a Jetta TDI. Do you have that model, or the gasser? Any issues that you've had to go thru? I see that VW discontinued the tdi in 07'. Wonder why?
I see that everyone has opinions about drafting. I don't think that I'll do this on a routine basis, but perhaps on occasion. Glad to see everyone point out their thoughts, pro or con.
