Default The Sun Coast Experience

Well, I just back and I'm gonna throw a bunch of pics into this thread so be patient.

First off, let me say that SunCoast isn't a tranny shop.......it's a manufacturing facility. They make nearly every single part in house. Right next to the lounge is the basically the design area. There were two guys in there, non-stop, working the CAD machine, making designs and adapters for different TC's, for different tranny's, for different trucks, etc.....really amazing what they were doing.

So anyways, here are the pics.

1. First, this is how you are greated in the office. Family run business.....I dig that. Really friendly folks and they will go out of their way to get you all set. One person not in the pic is Barry. If you call down there, most likely you'll talk to him. You'll see him in a different pic.

2. This is what the internals of your TC will look like (for the 48RE folks). If you get your hands on it, the parts are STOUT.

3. This is where they dissassemble the tranny's.

4. Tranny dyno

5. CNC machines. This is Barry, who you'll talk to if you order from them or go there.

More pics....

9. One of the MANY, MANY, MANY thank you plaques that are around the shop.

10. One little parting shot of my truck on the water before I rolled out.

11. These aremy readings at 70 MPH. On AVERAGE, with the Mag Hytec Double Deep tranny pan,my tranny fluidwas 12 - 17 degrees cooler than it was before. Normally on the highway I was around 176 - 180. I was between 163 - 167 the whole way back. The highest I got the tranny was 170 when I H-A-M-M-E-R-E-D on a red chebbie that decided the get froggy on the way to the highway.....more on that later.

Next post is how the tranny feels. MUWHAHAHAHA

So, now what everybody REALLY wants to know......how do I like it.

OMG!!! OMG!!! OMG!!! Friggin SCHAAAAAAWEEEEEEETTT!!

First...the tranny now shifts normally like it did before in Tow / Haul mode, but crisper. Not hard or banging, just crisp and sharp. Absolutely no slippage, up through level 5 on the Juice. And I tried.....

Second.....Tow / Haul mode is now to be considered RACE / WHOOP THAT AZZ mode. In R / WTA mode, the shifts are hard. I mean 4th gear jolts the truck.

So far, on the ride home, the difference is night and day.

I came off an intersection and decided to hammer it a bit on Level 4. So I nail it off the light (no pre-boost) and I'm rollin! I'm looking at the monitor for slip....nothing! Then I look in the rearview......where's the smoke? DOOOOH! I forgot the bump the Edge up from Level 1. So what's impressive about that you ask??? Because the damn thing launched like it was on level 4!!!

Lastly....I can't possibly recommend these guys enough. I had a great experience....really friendly folks.....completely knowledgeable about their products.....you really have to experience these guys to fully appreciate the difference between just ordering the parts and having them take you through the process and explain everything.

I'd certainly do it again.

Oh, it's game on now!

Only thing is, I don't think I'll have enough fuel on the top end to really get out of the TNT program what it's really capable of.

I'm gonna mess with the standard Revo software for now until I get all the settings figured out how I want them.

I had the Smarty downon level 2 this entire time.......I wanted the mileage for this trip.

But tomorrow, the games begin. Besides, my AFE Stage 2 was sitting here at the door and the CFM+ will be here tomorrow.

MUWAHAHAHAHAHA!

I was juts looking for pics in your other post. Thanks for putting them up !! Please remind me of this place when / IF I should ever need a tranny. Sounds like the way to go. I'm totally impressed that they were able to get you in and out in a day. That's amazing !!

Boy, everybody's a critic.

Actually, I'm considering doing it the easy way.....I'm gonna make a recycled, rubberized, permanentundercoating outof a proprietary blend of Michelin and Asphalt.
