Sorry for resurrecting an old thread, but what is this boost alarm you guys keep talking about? I was thinking about installing an AFE stage II. My truck is 2005, bone stock.

 

not sure about an alarm, most performance boxes have defueling point to drop the boost at the user set level.

Install the AFE stage 2, you wont regret it...

 

I just checked the prices online....definitely gonna have to wait til May when I graduate and start my job lol.

 

I have the same AFE intake and I love it even though it is a bit loud. My roomate came out and ask what that was, of course this was after i got it put in and was seeing how well it work. between my intake and my magana flow exhaust i may need hearing aids soon lol. i love it.

 

there are like 5 types of AFE stage II intakes. do i get the type Cx, the type Si with pro guard 7, type Cx with pro guard 7, pro guard 7 media, or the Pro Dry S filter??? why are there so many? what are the differences?

 

The alarm he was talking about is on his edge juice with attitude. It defuels at a set point but also has an alarm to tell you to back off.

 

The Edge has several alarms that you can manually set.

There are alarms for boost, EGT, tranny temp, engine temp and a speed alarm.

You set them for whatever value you choose and the screen flashes and sounds an audible alarm when the value is reached.

Normally, you set the alarm a bit lower than the point you set the Edge to defuel, so it alerts you when you're approaching the value you entered.

Example:

If you want it to defuel at 40 psi, you set the alarm for 36 and it gets your attention when it hits 36 psi.
