Default Check engine light

I have 11,800 miles on my 07 Ram 2500 and the check engine light has activated 6 times and I have taken it to the dealership 4 of those times with the same code referring to the turbo charger. I am wondering if anyone else has experienced this same problem. They tell me to run with engine brake activated at all times, but this is lowering my mpg and also I just towed a horse trailer for over 300 miles with the tow/haul and engine brake activated and the light still came on, so I really don't think that will solve the problem, but the service dept. continues to tell me it requires the engine brake to be activated, they say that is what the main Dodge service dept told them.

Any help will be appreciated.

Do you have the actual code it is throwing? If it's not on any of your service paperwork the next time the light turns on you can get the code to show on the ODO by turning the 3 from the off to the run position 3 times. (it sounds easy but it is all about timing; you'll have to walk through it a few times to actually get it).

[*]There is also a Technical Service Bulletin that addresses this.. Condensed version[*]
[*]TSB #11-002-08 OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves the inspection and/or test of the Diesel Turbocharger and related
emissions system components.
MODELS:
2007 - 2008 (DH/D1) Ram Truck (2500/3500)
NOTE: This bulletin applies to vehicle equipped with a Cummins 6.7L engine (sales
code ETJ).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The customer may experience a Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) illumination. Additional
diagnosis may reveal that the MIL is due to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC): P2262 -
Turbocharger Boost Pressure Not Detected - Mechanical.

8. Was DTC P2262 present in the PCM?
a. If YES >>> then the Turbocharger, along with other Engine and Exhaust
Aftertreatment System components, will require a thorough cleaning or
replacement. Refer to Service Bulletin 11-001-08. Proceed to the next step.
b. If NO >>> then STOP. This bulletin does not apply.
9. Make sure all other Engine and Exhaust Aftertreatment System related DTC's, not
listed above, have been corrected prior to proceeding further.
10. Once all other Engine and Exhaust Aftertreatment System related DTC's have been
corrected, and with only DTC P2262 remaining, proceed to the Repair Procedure in
this Service Bulletin.

Ask your dealer about this TSB.... Hope this helps.....

More Info.....

P2262-TURBOCHARGER BOOST PRESSURE NOT DETECTED - MECHANICAL
Theory of Operation The variable geometry turbocharger (VGT) is electronically activated by the Electronic turbo actuator. The Electronic turbo actuator is a smart device and receives information via the J1939 datalink from the ECM. The Electronic turbo actuator performs its own diagnostics and reports failures back to the ECM using the J1939 datalink. The ECM then decodes the error message and converts it to a fault code. The ECM lights the MIL lamp immediately after the diagnostic runs and fails. The ECM will turn off the MIL lamp immediately after this diagnostic runs and passes in 4 consecutive drive cycles.
[*]Set Condition: The VGT sliding nozzle is slow to move or is unable to move to the fully closed position at initial key-on. The physical limits of the VGT sliding nozzle have been found to be greater than or less than 100%.[/ul]
Possible Causes ELECTRONIC TURBO ACTUATOR-- or--
TURBOCHARGER

What you have described above is what they performed today according to the paperwork they gave me after I took the truck in. I have contacted the main Chrysler customer service line and they have opened up a case for me and will be in touch.

Thank you for the information.
