This is not about the Cummins or any ram for that matter. Therefore it is off topic. I think it has to be moved. Sorry guys, not my rules. Good luck with it in the off topic section, where nobody ever goes anyways.
It's in the right spot for sure... when anyone has an issue with a diesel or any ride for that matter dodge or not, I'm always willing to help if I can. Here there are alot of knowledgeable motorheads and its a good spot to tap for info... I say it needs to stay right where it is...

I'd say there's an issue with it... my brother had a PS... 2000 or 2001, I forget... he used to pull a 28' (??? idk length for sure but it's long & heavy) boat with ease... the only problem I ever recall him mentioning was his crank sensor went out... that killed his truck intermittantly. is there a boost gauge on that thing? if so what's the boost look like?

I am not sure if it has a boost guage on it or not. It is 100% stock. He paid I think around 3500 for it, it has well over 300,000 miles on it.
When he first got the truck last month, the air filter was sucked it. Dumb*ss tried telling me it was because the truck has so much power it tried sucking in more air than the filter could provide. WTF is that?! Can you say dirty air filter?

no boost gauge...it feels like its building boost, but i really expected more out of it...i would imagine that if it wasnt boosting it would REALLY run like crap, and if it had a slow, mild boost loss, it would affect it in other ways, wouldnt it? the laser has a boost leak, and while it still creates boost, it causes an odd idle...the f350 doesnt seem to act odd at all.

however, since it was new, its been used for a tow vehicle by a bunch of different random people...someone told me that it has probably not been to a shop in a year or so...

az, i wasnt looking for you to pipe down...you seem to have so many ideas about how the site should be run, but you didnt reply to me? I did ask for your throughts on things. while the opinion of the members is always welcome, firing away at the staff on the open forums isnt the time or place to voice those ideas. my inbox is always open..except when its full...

Sometimes the warmup valve on the exhaust side of the turbo acts up to wether it be the valve or the sensors controlling it. That can also cause mild to serious low power issues. As drew said get it serviced with a good 15w-40 oil. Also have the fuel filter changed.

I to had a '99 powerstroke dually with 4.10 gears. Pulling a 13-14,000lb trailer. It did it, but slowly. These motors were putting out 250hp and 500ftlb stock, plus being a big V-8 (444cid) takes awhile to rev. My CTD would pull circles around that ferd. I did notice that when it came time for a oil change, you could tell the power was down a little. It uses engine oil to control the injectors and when the oil breaks down, it starts to get sluggish. Also use a good quality oil as it means more in the psd than in other engines. Fuel filters need regular changes. I did mine ath 10,000 mile intervals. Mine went thru 4 cam sensors, 2 sets of ball joints, 3 complete sets of brakes (front and back), 2 auto locking hubs, and never got better than 15mpg empty and 11mpg towing. It had 65,000 miles when I traded it in. Never missed it.

If I remeber right you dont have to get out and lock the hubs on the 99 and up. The hubs are automatic and the manual **** is a back up incase the seals go out.

It depends on whatshift methodyou have.

If you have the manual t-case, you have to lock them.

If you have the electronic t-case, then that are vacuum accuated.

Mine were vaccum.......they got yanked and converted to Mile Marker manuals.

Ford's auto hubs SUCK!

The seals are a know weak spot. They did improve them on the 05+ trucks though.

Some people would rather have to get out and lock in the hubs. I would rather have manual locking hubs. I don't like the fact that my front running gear is always spinning. Thats weight and drag. Good for 1 MPG. Someday I will be able to afford the conversion kit.
