Default Good or Bad 6.7

I am thinking about trading in my 03 Ford F350 6.0 4x4 dually for a 2007 2500 6.7 4x4 . I am new to a dodge and I am sure everyone here is partial to them but I have not had any problem with my Ford I just dont need a dually any longer and would like something a bit more user friendly. I know the 5.9 was the ticket but this truck has a 6.7 and I just wanted some advice on the truck in total. Ride, economy, motor, trans. I am looking at a used 07 with 14000 miles. 4x4 quad cab long bed SLT. About $33,000. Any help would be great. Thanks

33k is a big price for an 07 with the economy and fuel prices. I would go and work on a dealer or keep looking for a 5.9. There is a truck on every corner here in SC for rock bottom prices. I just turned down an 05 4x4 slt quad with 57k for 16,500. keep looking around b4 you dump 30k into a truck, there are plenty of better deals out there, and they sadly are going to get much cheaper with these fuel prices. I gave 27k for an 06 with 2,000 miles left over on the lot this april and I wish that I would have waited it out a little longer, but my business would not let me. Good luck and be patient

5.9 is better, I am happy with my 6.7 though. The fuel mileage is bad on the 6.7 as all the other manufacturers with dpf emissions. But with 35's im in the 15's-and the dpf fell off! My egr is going on vacation this weekend hopefully that will help out as well.

Shemp, I did the same thing. Though mine was an 03 Ford crew cab 350 7.3L diesel. Nothing wrong with it. Just liked the Dodge better. Wanted the5.9, but all they had was used quad cabsand I really wanted the mega cab for the room for the kids. Wife argued with me tell me that she won't have me get another used vehicle. So I went with a new 08 6.7. Only have 1100 miles on it and love the ride, motor is quite and all the room in the world. Though Ihave to take it to the dealer again for the 2nd CEL light on again.

I wouldn't buy a 6.7L. You can get better results with a 5.9L. Your horsepower, gas mileage, and cheaper upgrades. The 5.9L has a 500,000 mile engine brake in. I bought my 01 5.9L for 13,000 with 114,00 miles on it. I tow my rock crawler and dirtbike trailer with it and have no problems. Plus i get around 23 miles to the gallon with close to 400 horsepower. If you read and diesel enthusiats mag or professional out there, they will tell you the same thing. I'm in the military and we used to use the 5.9L in the HMMWV. Chevy blows and now we use a 5.2L V8. Nothing but problems. The 5.9L is the best motor out the and it's a inline 6. Look on craigslist.org and you'll find a great deal.

Something still doesen't seem right. GM had the 6.2l diesel, the 6.5l diesel, the 6.5l turbo diesel and the 6.6 turbo diesel. Oh they also threw in the the 5.7 vortec. When did the so called 5.2 come into play?I never had a problem with a HMMWV even when I was in Bagram helping out the Army.

Imeant to put 6.2L my bad. And the 6.5L is on the up armored HMMWV's. They used a 5.9L in the HMMWV when they switched out the the old ******* jeeps from WW2. The production only lasted 13 years befroe they switched to general motors. And yes the 6.7L is a inline 6. I never said that it wasn't. The HMMWV's use are from the 70's. The 6.2L has plenty of problems like fuel injection pumps messing up all the time. GM messed up by converting a gas motor to diesel which was bad a idea. I've had to rebuild plenty of them M998 and M997. When were you there and what unit were you attached to in Bagram? Im in Taigi right now. Before that i was in Mosul.

Was in Bagram from June 07 to January 08. With the 455th. We had a lot of the new uparmored vehicles come in. They were putting in the new fire supression units and the new A/C units. Never had any problems with the motors on the HMMWV. Just powers steering pumps. Just had to rebuild the suspension on almost all of them.
