maybe it's that + the caster being less than 5? when I had the 2nd gen I had 2 tracbars go bad before switching to thuren's... still no DW.

I'd like to see it from outside the truck. do you know of any youtube vids for the dw?

Also, is your steering still stock? (God Ram It) Its been so long since I had the stock parts on there I dont even remember how it felt... I have a buddy here at work who's got a bone stock '05... I should see if I can take his out for a spin.

let the dealer do their work, then go get the alignment fixed. 5.0 or greater on the caster should do it.

Default Dodge Ram Death Wobble

I'm new to this forum, and found it because of DW research. I'm a mechanic my self, and have dealt with the dreaded DW. At 30,000 miles it started, and was fixed with a Rancho steering stabalizer. Now at 64,000 after installing a 2 inch leveling kit the dreaded DW ended up coming back. After reading up on all the info on this great forum, i realized i needed to add more positive caster in my alignment. Well that fixed it somewhat but still got the DW every once in a while. I called the dealer and found out about the updated steering kit they were selling, and bought it for about $440. It included the new design pitman arm, complete steering linkages, and a bigger steering stabalizer. After I installed it and realigned my truck it now feels brand new, no DW! The issue these trucks have is the inverted Y steering set up. The new design is more like a true cross over steering set up. In 2008 all dodge ram 2500 & 3500 trucks come with the new design, which will aleviate the DW issue. Petersons 4Wheel Drive magazine has a article on this exact kit, and install in the March 2010 edition. Its worth buying the mag to read about it, if you havent already. Let me know what you think, have done, or are trying to figure out.

Default This works...

Okay - I have the 100K+ KM (60K+ Miles). I Have run both the Stock tires and my preferred 33inch BFG ATs. It's 3500, Mega Cab, 4X4, CTD, 6Spd Manual. No lift/leveling, no other "mods". My DW hit around 90K KM and slowly got worse until I parked it. Finally went in to my local and very reliable/trustworthy shop here in central Alberta, Airdrie Chrysler.

They simply replace the 3500 front end with the 5500 system. This leaves me to do the simple task of changing my own shocks and that gets everything right. The 4500/5500 system is the more appropriate setup for these units than the OEM 3500 underpinnings. It's effectively all-inclusive and a quick shop effort in a single day in-out.

NOTE, LATER ADDED NOTE HERE... sorry guys... forgot, this work I got done also included a new 4500/5500 steering box. Kinda important value to have forgotten in initial post.
