Death Wobble
working in another city.... not a lot of free time for monitoring the forums these days...
on the caster adjustment... having a pic of my setup wont help, yours may not be setup exactly like mine... came to this conclusion by looking at a buddies who's were way different then mine.
loosen the bolts and adjust them so the drive shaft moves upward slightly... do this to both sides where the movement is the same on the bolts.... that way when you make the adjustment, both sides are getting roughly the same movement and it should still drive as it is now. mark your current settings before moving them so you can go back to where you were if you need to.
edit: oh yeah... if you go to my photobucket album listed in my sig, there should be a folder with the caster bolts in it... IIRC, its called caster_bolts or something like that. again, it wont help much...

it would affect all rams with the solid front axle if it has worn out parts... your best bet is to set the caster at 5.25* or greater w/o causing pinion bearing noise and when you feel a slight wobble beginning to happen up front, then look to start swapping out worn parts.
I just got the DW back in Sept or so after 170~175k with a heavy duty steering swap done and found the control arm bushings & tracbar bushings helped reduce it significantly. still wanted to wobble just a tad bit and dug further...had 2 ball joints loose. swapped them on all 4 positions and now it is rock solid again. better than new.

I have a 95 Dodge Ram 2500 Cummins. It was fine until I put a 2" leveling kit on it then I got the famous DW. Scared the CRAP out of me the first time!!! Anyways, tried everything from adjusting the caster all the way up to getting the whole thing alined to puttng a new steering stabalizer on it.....Nothing "fixed" it only as they say "put a bandaid on it" So after a lot of research and a lot of white knuckle driving I found out what the problem was. Wether your truck is stock or lifted it dosn't matter. In my case when I put the LK on it It screwed up the whole geometry of the front end. My problem was my track bar was stock which means stock length which by lifting the frame and lowering the front axel (which is what happens with any type of suspension lift) my track bar was no longer long enough so it was pulling my axel to the drivers side messing everything up. By doing that it put all the pressure and stress on my track bar wearing it out FAST!!!! So with a mix of "to short track bar" and "worn out track bar" was causing my death wabble. I ordered a track bar from Thuren faburcations who are awesome people. Its alot more heavy duty and its adjustable making it possible to adjust to my 2" LK. Got it on and it cured my DW =) My axel is now centered and it steers really tight!!

Also as an FYI... I found out that worn ball joints will also lead to the DW... my steering is the HD kit from Thuren along with his tracbar. Been running that for 100~120k miles now w/o the DW then about 10k back I started having it. traced it down to bad lower ball joints. Put in some new Carli's and it was gone. should also mention that previously to the BJ failure I'd already swapped in new control arm bushings and tracbar bushings as they were also shot but did not have DW at that time.
i wouldnt let the fear of DW stop you from buying a ram, dodge > all. if your really worried about it just make sure it has a steering box stabilizer like this and or double up on the steering stabilizers.
this is also on a truck with a 12 inch lift on 40" tires, no DW yet and it has a bad ball joint at the moment.

No spend over three grand and replace all the ball joints and non sevicable u joints and new drag link on a 6 year old Ram 2500 with 121,000 km DW is the verry last thing to worry abought, Drag links falling off the hub or fracturing is a bigger issue, in my case, the right drag link popped off just by backing up.
The Death Wabble Demon is a hard one to exercise out of our trucks, but can be done, most cases are different. I've been on this problem for a while to say the least, and have successfully taken care of the problem long term... as in never got it again. Every truck is different so if you want help/input or just an explanation feel free to pm me. If you are at the end of your rope then i may even give you my Phone number. It would take three days to type every thing and it would be hard to decipher lol. So a pm or call would work best till i can finish a full write up with a how to and pictures
