3/4 ton and 1 ton
Thinking of selling my 1ton. what is the main diff. between the chassis on the two. i want a 1 ton with out the dual wheels but hard to find around me in a stick. plenty of 3/4. i know it is just suspension but i dont know how much. if some air bags whould work or not.
I'm sure somebody else will have more insight on this than me, but as far as I know the only difference is the suspension. The rear end, brakes, tranny, all such things are the same.
I used to drive a 3/4 ton chevy with air bags. I didn't have an on board compressor, which is something I would do differntly if I had to do it over. Last time I looked at the kits, $5-600 bucks would get you a system with an onboard compressor.

I have a 3/4 ton and added the air bags with on board compressor and registered my truck for 12,000 lbs. I went this route because in my area we have alot of streets marked no through trucks over 3/4 ton. I am pretty sure a one ton single rear whell is actually rated to tow more than the dually. I like training whells but they can be a big pain too.
i dont rodeo like i use to and my 03 1 ton is getting miles on it plus the fuel system is givingme fitts. i am thing of a single wheel just for the reason you said. ilike i said i can find 3/4 tons alot easler than 1 ton single wheel.
Front coils have a different spring rate on the 1 tons I believe. That and the overload springs are the difference. Although the early years (03-04) had 3/4 tons available with the 10.5 rearend. Starting in 04.5, all diesels have the 11.5 rear...

I'm trying to remember off hand......
Standard front springs and axle GAWR is 5200 or 5500 lbs.
Heavy / Plow springs is 5600 or 5900 lbs.
Both are available on 2500 and 3500.
No, the difference is the REAR springs, not the fronts.
The rears on the 3500 SRW's have the overloads springs and the perches are welded to the frame.
The rears on the 2500's do not have the overloads.
The front springs are the same, they vary based on the suspension package you get.
You can order the plow package, the heavy duty suspension package, etc....
That's where you get differences in the fronts suspension.
