Default Pros/Cons of 3.73 gears on 07 2500 4x4 w/ 35in tires

I'm interested in buying an 07 ram 2500 qc 4x4 with 35 inch tires and 3.73 diff gears. What is the the gas mileage estimate with the 3.73 vs. 4.10? Should I switch to the 4.10 gears? I do 70/30 city/hwy driving.

there is more than enough torque to get you going. mpg will suffer some but is it a good justification for a gear swap? That wyould be up to you to determine. if your towing then yes, it'll pay for itself quicker.

I have 33's with the 3.73's and it's fine. mpg suffered approx 3 mpg when I put them on... mainly for 2 reasons, height & weight. rotational mass was increased significantly from stock.

The gear swap $ would be approx $1600 bux (that was my estimate when I inquired).

That is the set up that I have on my truck. Performance wise I noticed no substantial differance. I may have lost a little mileage but it's a work truck. By the way I tow 14,000 lbs fairly regularly and I have never considered a gear swap It works fine.

I have an 06 with 35's and 3.73 tow anywhere from 2ton - 8 ton, drive 70 to 100 mi a day and am averaging 15-20 mpg (hand calculated)

While the increased size and weight may negatively affect mileage, at the same time, your effectively raising the gear ratio (say from a 3.73 to a 3.64 as an example, JUST an example) so you may or may not notice as large a loss as 3mpg. Id say around 1-1.5, depending on alot of different factors.

But the visual more than makes up for it, in my opinion. Im so tired of rolling on stockers for the last 2 years. But performance is first on the list, so 35s on 20s wont happen for awhile
