Time 4 a change ?

Hey guys ,first off I've got a 6.0 and I'm at the point of sh#t canning it! So , 5.9 or 6.7 ? I've read a fair amount of info and nothing major jumps out at me as bad ( see 6.0 ) I need a 4 door, 4x4,if it dont have it I"ll do the chip + exhaust thing, just the basics, stick or auto ? ofcourse I'll need a lift 4-6 will do.Can I use my 18 inch 2005 6.0 rims ? I thought i read somewhere they had the same bolt patern, I just dumped over 2k in tires + rims!I'll spend 23k-32K on a new rig 06-08 ? think that should get me in the game. I pull a 32 ft trailer 6-7 x a year, haul trees and rock and whatever else i can throw in the back, alot of freeway driving 80mph -90mph. Thanks in advance.

The engine choice depends on the year. The 07.5+ is where it went to the 6.7 and all the emissions stuff. 07 and earlier were 5.9.
There is nothing wrong with the 6.7, once you can the DPF and EGR. After that, it's an animal. Only problem is that there isn't nearly the amount of aftermarket stuff for it as the 5.9.
If you go with a 5.9, look at 04.5 - 07 common rails. Those were the higher HP trucks.
Your wheels won't fit. Ford uses that oddball 8 on 170mm bolt pattern and Dodge and Chevy use 8 on 6.5. They're close, but they don't fit.
If you need to know where to start on that Cummins, here ya go.....

Fedup- I'm not trying to hijack a thread here but I'm just curious what the problem with your 6.0 is? I imagine its a laundry list as often is with the motor. I do not personally own a Cummins, but have spent a ton of time around them. Everyone I have talked to that has a common rail loves them. I test drove an 06 and liked it,, but the truck was in pretty rough shape. Coaltrain is very right in regards to the 6.7. I love my Powestroke, but the Cummins is the better motor by a country mile. Best of luck on the new truck.

I came out of a 2004 6.0 too. You will love towing with a Cummins. If you are going to run 80 - 90 mph get the auto trans. I love my manual, but it is geared lower then the auto and it is turning more rpm's on the highway as a result. Now if you are towing that is great, but empty it gets annoying to me running 2400 rpm's at 75 mph. If you get a 6.7 built later in '09 you can't change the ecm with a programmer as Chrysler has put a booby trap in it.......

Yes the list is long!!! Head gaskets,turbo, injecters,EGR,and now low fuel pressure code. (in the shop now)I'm sure i missed a few little deals,but thoughs are the big ticket items.I've owned or should i say been owned by this truck about 20 months.Ford has coverd everything up to this point, thank the phuk for that.yes it is hoped up a bit ,but theres toomany stock 6.0s out there going too hell and back to blame it all on addon's.Whens this thing going to leave me high a dry miles from home? I wont wait to see.It's gone asap.
