2005 dodge diesel head gasket
Don't know who all has done a head gasket in a 2005 dodge diesel. Got one that went bad was wondering if you had to pull the cab or just lift it a few inches or if anyone knew of any other tricks to pull one of these heads. The truck does have an arp head stud kit.
i never pulled one on a 3rd gen, but i assume they would be like the 2nd gen trucks, there should be some holes in the cowl under the plastic cover to pull the studs/bolts, then the head should come out with out moving the body
No need to remove the cab, but you will need to remove the wiper cowl to remove 2 rubber plugs to pull the pushrods on #5 and #6.
The studs need to come out to slide the head forward.
Otherwise, you just need to remove all the other crap attached to the head.
Have a cherry picker, or at least a few buddies to help. The head weighs 137 lbs and wrestling it out is not fun by yourself.

Thanks alot will let you know how this goes. This truck has been modified already prior to me getting it here's a list of what it has, anyone got any ideas if this stuff is worth keeping on it or pull it because it will cause more problems then they are worth. Banks high ram kit with intercooler that i plan on leaving in, ATS exhaust manifold,Power Max CR progammer with dash controls,Snow Performance Stage 3 boost cooler(but see no take for the cooling fluid maybe they were just using it for the boost gauge and egt gauge,Tial blowoff valve unknown how big, and the turbo appears to have been changed there is no name like holister cast into it all I can find is 3 K's inside of a triagle on the back of the compressor side of the turbo,ARP head stud kit, and last a PPE (Pacific Performance Enginering) 160gph fuel pump. An input would be great i just got this truck and can't find a lot our about some of this stuff or played around a lot with diesel's.
KEEP IT ALL!
That's some good stuff in there.
I would "assume" that with the amount of goodies he put on the outside, that he was smart enough to do valve springs and injectors also.
If you can get a pic of the turbo, I can probably tell you what you have.

I sent the replies to your email.
That looks like an ATS Aurora 5000 (K31), maybe a 4000, but it looks like a 5000.
71mm compressor.

That's the big turbo that I use in my twins.
If you're able to spool that during normal daily you have AT LEAST 120 HP injectors, more likely 150's.
