Rear end 3.73 or 4.10
Hi all, I have a 2006 2500 4x4 5.9 cummins and I want to move from 285/70R17 to true 35/12.5/17R Fierce Attitude tires but would like to find out if I have the 3.73 or 4.10 rear end first. I Pulled a number off of the axel (T)X2DH188511090 and (P)52104. I want to still be able to tow my camper and other equipment. Thanks for the help.
Do it old school; jack up the rearend, trans in neutral, and put a tape line on the driveshaft and one on the tire. Turn the tire and count how many driveshaft rotations you get for every one tire rotation. Most are 3.73.
that sucks...on 2nd gens its on the sticker in the glove box. tells you exactly what rear ends you have, and what axle ratios. for example mine says D60F D80R 4.10 ratio.
no idea what those numbers mean...
if sticker is not in glove box you will have do do like was suggested..tape lines lol...
sticker should be in glove box on 3rd gen on bottom of glove box inside it...if its not there, someone removed it.
anyway 3rd gen trucks are standard equipment 3.73. 4.10 was a optional, but not standard equip.
if you still have factory window sticker for truck that will tell you...if it doesn't mention 4.10, then its not 4.10.

I don't believe the later 3rd gen trucks had the glovebox sticker, my 07 doesn't and never has (original owner since 24 miles); my 03 does but only has the VIN on top, then the trim code (for black interior) and the primary (white) and secondary (silver) paint codes.
From my bodyshop days, I remember on occasion checking the paint codes in the glovebox, but those would have been largely up to 05 models since the 06's were new then

it would have been listed on the sticker if it had it since it was optional equipment.
