Thinking about buying this truck
I am a new to diesel and this will be my first purchase. What do you think about a truck in excess of 690K miles? Its a RAM Dodge 2500. I would not be towing anything for at least 2 years but would like to get into the market for them. What should I look for and is this worth lookin at?

is it 690k or 69k the ad is contradicting itself...
make sure everything works and check for usual wear and tear things. make sure it runs and drives good and check everything from wipers to headlights to highbeams to all windows, etc.. make sure it all works.
check for leaks, or signs of mods.
if taken care of, 690k miles is roughly 1/2 the life of the engine. if properly maintained it should make it to over 1 million miles.

Then if you read the ad, it says 69k.
Have you looked at pricing? At the bottom of that posting there are "similar" ads, an 03 2wd has an asking price of $25k.
Hop over to autotrader.com and see what they're listed for. They range from about 4000 to almost $30k. A 4x4 with under 100k miles would run you in the 20s. If it really has 700k miles on it, then $4k might be accurate but it just doesn't look like it's that high.

could be though...a lot of small business guys that do car shipping cross-country rack up miles as quickly as semi trucks hauling cross country.
several of the cummins trucks that are in the 1 million mile range are long haul drivers hauling gooseneck trailers delivering cars across country...there is good demand for those drivers with all of the people that buy cars off of ebay and want them delivered to them.

Ya. I wrote the guy and left a message. This is what he wrote me.
Sorry I am getting back to you so lately but I had a very rough week and I barely had the chance to go online. Anyway thing is that I am getting ready for a 2 weeks assignment in Spain, with the TLP, a tactical program. As you may be aware the NATO agreement is extended in Spain as well, especially with the Tactical Leadership Program (TLP) as I mentioned earlier. We can schedule for an inspection and I can have the vehicle delivered there using the USAF Air Cargo. It's going to be dropped of at the closest Air Force Base in your area and from there I can have a trucking service pick it up and deliver it at your home address.
I also sent you the VIN in case you need it's 1GCHC29142E125557, the mileage is 119,200 miles, automatic transmission and as I said we can arrange for an inspection I am also familiar with online sales so we will have to use a service from a business-specialized company. I can explain you everything step by step but let me know what do you think about the vehicle.
I will be waiting for your response before I commit to anyone else,
Talk to to you soon.

Report the guy because its a scam. I've delt with many of these guys. They get all your info and well they make the "deal of the century". There is no way this 119,000 mile truck is being sold for 4k. This is posted right beside the truck pic
"Avoid fraud by meeting all sellers in-person to pay for items. Never send or wire money to people you do not know or trust. eBay Classifieds does not offer any transaction or payment services. Stay safe"
Also look at the vin in the one pic(white label) It doesnt match his vin! hahaha
